Chapter-9

The mother jackalope glared at Miley as if she would tear her apart in one attack. Miley's legs went numb and she fell on the ground trying hard to get up but couldn't.

Meanwhile, Zach didn't take his eyes off the mother jackalope, his eyes twitched, seeing her lunge towards Miley he sent one of his chains to veer her away but she dodged it and was about to attack Miley with her horns when Zach grabbed her horns and stopped her.

Miley couldn't understand what was happening, she was seeing the mother jackalope just feet away from her, struggling in the air and stopped by some invisible wall.

"What the heck is this stupid doing? Why isn't she running away?" Zach snarled, using his full power he parried the mother jackalope away earning a few seconds in which he flew to Miley. He picked her up in his arms and flew away.

All Miley could remember was a hand surrounded his waist out of nowhere and her body was pressed tightly against that person who flew over the forest. Due to the tight hug, she wasn't able to see who saved her, all she could see was black bandages fluttering in squalls almost touching the clouds. Unconsciously, she wrapped her hands around his neck tightly. Then her eyes went on the chains revolving around them, she gasped, "Zach!" She shouted.

"Why the heck are you shouting! Yes, it's me. The one to save you from your stupid deeds," Zach tightened his grip around her waist, leaving no gap between the two.

Miley remembered the dream she saw Iris Scintilla in the pitiable condition, afraid she might get killed the next moment she started struggling in mid-air.

"Hey! What are you doing! You will die if you fall from here, Miley!" Zach tried to get her under control but she freed herself and pushed him away falling right towards the ground.

Zach widened his eyes, he clenched his fist and shot towards Miley. "What a brainless human!" The pressure of the air around him increased almost taking off his black robe that kept on fluttering in the air flying against the gravity.

Right before Miley could hit the huge tree branches Zach held her hand in mid-air, pulled her closer to himself, hugging her he turned around to save her from hitting the branches. As they fell through the tree, Zach's chains kept on destroying the branches so that the two weren't hurt.

Finally landing on the ground safely, Miley was lying over Zach. Too confused to do anything else all she did was, get up and try to run away from him again.

Zach got up, held her hand and pushed her against the trunk of the huge tree, "what's wrong with you!" He glared into her eyes who didn't leave a chance to avert from his. "Look at me, Miley!" He slammed his hand on the tree beside her ears.

Miley flinched, "please don't kill me! I promise I didn't escape, I was just trying to find my parents. Once I find them and take them back to their safe life, I will do whatever you want." She whimpered closing her eyes. Her hands tightly grabbing Zach's shoulder, herself being caged within his arms.

"What? If I had to kill you, I wouldn't have saved you in the first place… Miley, don't judge me based on baseless nightmares you have," he said peering at Miley who was reluctant to open her eyes. "If you don't open your eyes, how will you know how dangerous the danger is? Open your eyes." Zach's rough tone softened a bit along with the look in his eyes. His lips moved closer to Miley's. Just when the proximity was about to seize existing, Miley opened her eyes wide and pushed him away.

"What the hell! How do you know about my nightmare…" she looked at him, shocked.

Zach didn't answer, he looked around as if he didn't hear a thing.

"I asked you something. Reply to me! Zach Zero, how do you know about my nightmare…"

"Shut up! Don't raise your voice and talk to me," Zach didn't look at her. She walked to him turned him by his shoulders and asked again.

"You were following me?"

"I am on the same journey as yours, I just happened to be there and saw you talking in your sleep under the soul healer tree, that's it!"

"You were about to start the journey at midnight, how come you reached there so fast?"

"What a stupid question is that? I can fly fast and cover a greater distance in less time," Zach looked at Miley who seemed quite satisfied by the answer. Both of them didn't say anything else for some time.

Miley looked at Zach, "why did you… hurt her? You loved her, didn't you? Iris, you loved her, so why did you hurt her? Why did you trample her wings?" She asked, hesitantly.

Zach gulped, he held Miley's arms, bringing his face down to her face, he said, "who said I hurt her? Just because you had a dream doesn't mean it's true."

"It's true! After coming here I realised all my dreams that I had since birth was broken memories of Iris Scintilla. I think somehow I know her even if I don't know why," Miley peered at Zach.

"Hear me once and clear," he said leaving her arms, "I never dared touch Iris Scintilla physically. I don't know what you are talking about but I can swear in my entire clan that even when I hated her I never hurt her body or wings." Zach dropped his eyelids and took in a deep breath.

"Why should I trust?"

"Then don't! I and my heart know that I loved her to the extent where I could kill everyone but her!" He snapped.

Miley was taken aback, "if what you said was true then whose voice did I hear…"

"Can you stop mingling real life with your dreams?" Zach said, annoyingly.

"Fine! Bye!"

"Where are you going?"

"Nigrack. Need to find my family."

"Girl, do you think you can go there without my help?"

"Yes, I can."

"No. You can't. I saw what happened. Doofus, you don't even know that jackalope are inedible and were you planning to kill that baby jackalope?"

"I thought it was a bunny. Never knew I would encounter a big bunny too," she said with a pout.

"Huh! Stupid! Come with me on this journey, I need you so I won't kill you. Just get that straight and even if you try to travel alone my eyes will always be on you," Zach said, sharply.

If I think rationally, I almost got killed today. He did save me and there is no guarantee that my dreams are true. Let's be honest Miley, you need his help. What's the point in reaching Nigrack dead, she thought rubbing her chin while Zach looked at her suspiciously. Miley hesitated and suddenly looked at Miley, "I don't trust you, you better not come closer than feet."

Zach raised his eyebrows tilting his head, "does that mean you are tagging along with me on this journey?" He smirked.

"No. You are the one tagging with me," Miley said with pursed lips.

Zach chuckled, "um hm ok. Guide me then."

"Y-Yeah, ok I know where we are…" Miley contemplated on the truth of her own statement, she immediately took out the map and looked around it worried. "Where are we?" She looked at Zach.

He shrugged crossing his hand across his chest, "don't ask me. I am just tagging along, did you forget?" He tried hard to control his laughter.

Miley looked at him scrunching her face in annoyance, "tsk! You live here! You must be acquainted with this place better!"

"Oh, hm. So now you accept you are the one tagging with me? Switching positions?" Zach looked at Miley squinting his eyes.

Miley rolled her eyes, "whatever," she said and started walking when she felt Zach's arms wrap around her waist from behind and the next second she was touching the clouds on a sunny day. "I SAID YOU TO STAY AWAY FROM ME!"

"Haha, if I do that you are going to fall to your death, stupid!" Zach chuckled.

"Zach Zero, stop making me fly like this, it's scary!" Miley screamed.

"I love scary adventures," Zach whispered sending chills down from Miley's ears to her skin.
