Chapter 12

Jennifer PV     I walked over to the tree where Adam and Abigail where sitting. They looked up at me and you could see the fear in their little eyes. It was heartbreaking. I slowed down as I approached them, trying to lessen their fear.     “Good morning Adam and Abigail, I am friends with Miss Sandy and she asked me to keep you company while you ate snack,” I told them as I sat down next to them.     I handed them each a juice box and a bag of crackers. They each took their snack and smiled.     “My name is Jennifer. Do you like it in the palace?” I asked.     They looked at each other and both nodded.     “I do to, I haven’t been here very long, but I really like it. Do you have a lot of friends here,” I asked?     They looked at each other and both shrugged.     “That’s ok, I don’t have many friends either. Will you be my friend?” I asked.     They looked at each other for a few moments and then looked back at me and nodded and giggled.     I smiled. “Thank you so much. Because I just moved here. I only know the Kings and Miss Sally, but now I have you both as my friends. That makes me so happy. You know what, what do you think about coming to my house and playing with me one of these days? I can ask Miss Sandy if that is okay. Is that something you would want to do?” I asked them.     They looked at each other. I held my breath waiting to see if I could get them to trust me. I really liked these two children. Finally, they looked back at me with a smile and shook their heads yes.     I clapped my hands and smiled. “Let me ask Miss Sandy when we may be able to make that happen. I will be right back,” I told them.     “Sandy, I have a question. Would it be possible to have Adam and Abigail come over to the pack house for a play date?” I asked.     She looked taken back. “They agreed to go with you,” she asked.     “Yes, they shook their head at being my friend and having a play date at my house.”     “I am so glad. We have had everyone try to get through to them here, and no one has gotten a nod or smile out of them. You are free to take them for a play date today or any day you want to. You have done something in the last 15 minutes that we have not been able to do in the last 6 months,” she said.     I smiled. “Let me see if they want to go ahead and leave now, or if they would rather wait until tomorrow. If it is ok, I may see if they want to have a sleep over and watch movies.     Sandy nodded and I waked back to the children. They had finished their snack and looked to be watching me with great interest.     “Good news, she said that you can come over for a play date, any time. If you want to, you can come to my house now. What do you think?” I asked them. They both shook their heads excitedly. “So, you want to go to my house now?” I asked.     They nodded again.     “Awesome, would you like to stay and eat dinner and maybe have a sleepover too,” I asked.     They looked at each other and then back at me and nodded again.     “Ok, let’s go and tell Miss Sandy and get your things together.”     They got up and ran to Miss Sandy. I smiled as I watched them each take one of her hands and pull her inside. I figured that they were taking her to get their things together. About fifteen minutes later they both ran out, each carrying a little bag.     “They are ready to go. They have their pjs in the bag along with the animals and blankets they like to sleep with. Currently they sleep in a twin bed together, so other than that, I can’t think of anything else that you need to know. Here is my phone number in case you have any questions or problems, or you can mind-link me,” Sandy tells me as she hands a piece of paper with her name of phone number on it. I smiled and took each of the kid’s hands and we walked toward the pack house. The kids looked so much happier then when I first saw them. They skipped almost the whole way.     As we walked, I thought about what we should do. Wondering what they like to eat and where they would feel most comfortable sleeping. I continued to think about it until we got to the pack house. I knew exactly what I wanted to do.     I mind-linked the guys, “Guys we have two guests tonight, don’t worry, I will explain later, but for right now, I wanted you to know that I will be sleeping in my old room tonight and I need a second queen bed added to my room,” I told them.     “What are you talking about,” Jason asked.     “You will see when you come down for dinner. Just remember to be very nice and un-alpha-like.” I told them. As I walked into the house to get the kids settled and have some fun.   Jason PV     “What do you think that was about?” I asked my brothers.     “I have no idea. How do we act ‘un-alpha-like’ and who could be these guests that she is going to need to sleep in the same room with,” Jonathan asked?     “I don’t know, but I don’t like it,” Justin said.     “How long before dinner will be ready,” I asked looking at the time.     “About another 2 hours,” Jonathan said.     I sighed. “Well, let’s work on the rest of this quickly, so we will be ready and can get down when dinner is ready. I don’t want to wait any longer than we have to in order to find out what is going on with our little mate,” I told them as we tried to get back to work.   Jennifer PV     As I walked the Adam and Abigail to the play room, I had seen on one of my many walks around the castle I saw Mary.     “Oh, Mary, I wanted to talk to you. We are having two very important guests tonight for dinner. This is Adam and this is Abigail. When you get dinner ready can you make sure and have some kid favorite dishes on the table and maybe something really yummy and chocolate for dessert,”     Do you both like chocolate,” I asked them. They giggled and hopped up and down.     Mary laughed. “I will take that as a yes.” She knelt down InfFront of them. “I will see what I can whip up. Do you have anything in mind,” she asked them. They looked up at me and I smiled encouragingly. They looked back at her and then hid behind me.     “Well, I will get a few different things and we will go from there,” she said and walked away.     “Thank you, Mary,” I said as she left.
