Chapter 17

Adam PV “What do you think?” I asked Abigail. “I would feel more comfortable at least starting out in the same room, but maybe we should get separate rooms that way we will work our way put to separate rooms. If we don’t get separate rooms, then we will stay in the same room together,” she answered, “I don’t feel comfortable sleeping in a separate bedroom yet, but I think we should make a room up for me and one fore Adam. Then both sleep in one of them. That way when we are ready, we can just move things around,” she told them. They looked at us. “Can we ask you a few questions,” Mommy said. We looked at each other and I nodded to Abigail. “Of course, Mommy,” Abigail said. “There have been a few times that it seems like you are talking to each other, how is that possible, if you don’t have wolves,” she asked. We looked at each other and I nodded at her again. “As long as we can remember, we have been able to talk to each other. We can’t talk to anyone else, just each other. You four are the first four that we have even let see us use the link,” Abigail told them. “Another question, the orphanage was under the impression that you where around 2 or 3 years of age, but you talk like you are much older than that, do you have any idea how old you are,” Jason, I mean Papa asked. I decided to answer this one. “We really aren’t sure. We have been on the run from him,” I stopped when Abigail grabbed my hand and squeezed. Bringing him up, always upset her. I took a breath and continued. “We have been on the run from him, for a long time, so we haven’t kept very good track of our age. As good as I can guess, we are around 10, I told them. “Why are you so small,” Momma asked with a gasp. “When we were held by him, he barely feed us. Then when we were on the run, it was hard to come be food,” I told them. “Who held you,” Pop asked. “I don’t want to say his name,” I said. Then Mamma’s eyes showed recognition and tears started rolling down her cheeks. “It was him,” was all she could say before her sobs started to get louder and she ran from the room. The men looked at us with concern for her. “What is she talking about,” Papa said. I looked at Abigail and she nodded, but before I could speak, she spoke up. “Mamma is upset because she remembers seeing us when she was held captive,” Abigail told them. “When we escaped, we tried to set her free, but we weren’t able to, we almost got caught when we tried,” I told them. They all nodded. “Let’s go check on Mamma and see if she still wants to go shopping and go and get your stuff from the orphanage today,” Daddy said. We nodded and took their hands as we went the same direction that Momma had just gone.   JASON I was on overload from everything that I had just learned.  For some reason Jennifer’s father not only kept and tortured her, but he kept the twins held captive also. What could be his reason for holding these children captive. Also, they look like they are around three years old, but they are 10, what did he do to them while he had them, that could stunt their growth that much. The thing that's driving me nuts is how can I find out the information, it's not like I can interrogate these young children, that I have just asked to think of me as one of their parents. I promised to keep them safe, now I need to not only make sure that b******d didn't get ahold of our mate, but also our new twins. We got to our room and I could tell that she was in the room still crying. Justin knocked and we went in. Abigail ran up to the bed and climbed up onto the bed and curled onto her lap. "Mamma, are you mad at us, because we didn't help you get free when we escaped?" She asked. Jennifer gasped, "of course not, I wanted you to run and forget about me. I would have hated myself if you had gotten recaptured trying to free me. I just wish I could have protected you both," Jennifer said. We were all sitting on the bed now. “Jennifer, do you still want to go to the orphanage and shopping,” I asked her. She smiled, “of course,” she said. “Let’s go to the orphanage first,” she said as she got up. “Jason, will you let Sandy know that we are coming, through the link,” she asked me. I nodded as I linked Sandy. “Sandy,” I linked. “Yes, Alpha Jason,” she responded. “How was the sleepover,” she asked. “It was great. We are actually on our way over there to pick up the twin’s things. They have agreed to let us adopt them,” O told her. It was silent for a few moments, then she responded. “Wow, that is great. I will start getting their things together,” she said.   Jennifer’s POV I was having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that they twins were the ones that my father abused for years until they were able to escape. I hated watching them in captivity. I never understood why he would keep those sweet children. I still don’t understand. He wanted power, so what was it about these children? I looked up and realized that we had just arrived at the orphanage as Adam and Abigail grabbed my hands and pulled me toward Sandy. Together they both started talking. “Miss Sandy, Miss Sandy, look. We have a Momma and a Daddy, Papa and a Pop. Isn’t that great?” They asked. She smiled down with her mouth wide open. It took a moment for her mind to start working. She bent down to them and put a hand on each of their shoulders. “That is wonderful. Are you both happy about them adopting you,” she asked. “Yes, they are so nice. We are going to the store to buy us things for our rooms after this,” Abigail told her. “Why don’t you run upstairs and get your things together. I want to talk with Miss Sally alone and we will be up in a few moments to help you gather all of your things,” I told them. They nodded and ran off. “I can’t believe how much they have changed over night,” Sally said when they were inside. “Yes, they were so happy with the idea of staying with us and being with us last night. They this morning they just started talking and didn’t stop. We found out that they were severely mistreated and they are actually around the age of 10. So they are so much starter then we thought was possible.” “Wow, I guess that makes sense,” she said. Just then the men walked up. “It appears that the sleep over was a huge success, Alpha’s,” Sally said. Jason nodded and spoke, “We couldn’t be happier about the outcome. They are wonderful children.” I excused myself so I could help the children and Sally continued talking to the Alpha’s. When I got to their room, they had all of their things together. I mind linked some of the women that worked in the pack house and asked them to come and pick up the kids items and bring them back to the kids rooms. Then we headed to the car and then to the town for everything the kids would need for their rooms. “Let’s start at the furniture store, then we can go to the hardware store. I think we should probably go to the clothing store, because they really don’t have enough clothes currently. That should get us started,” I said after thinking about it for a few moments.
