Chapter 13 – The Letter That Changed Everything

351 Words
Adithyan’s hands trembled as he held the letter. The paper had yellowed with time, but the words were clear—sharp, like a knife cutting through his chest. "Arjun, I never thought you would hurt me like this." His heart pounded. What had he done? Taking a deep breath, he continued reading. --- Maya’s Words "I loved you, Arjun. More than anything in this world. I thought we were unbreakable. But I was wrong." "That night… you proved me wrong." Adithyan’s breath hitched. What night? "You promised you would never betray me. Never lie to me. But you did." "I saw it with my own eyes, Arjun. And that broke me." Adithyan’s fingers clenched the letter. She had seen something? A betrayal? But he had no memory of it. "I begged you to tell me the truth, but you didn’t. Instead, you left me with nothing but silence." "I waited for you to come back, to explain. But you never did. And I had no choice but to walk away." "I wanted to hate you. But how do you hate the person who once meant everything to you?" "So I left. I erased you from my life. I tried to move on. But deep inside, I always wondered—why?" "Why did you do it, Arjun?" "Why did you destroy us?" Adithyan felt his chest tighten. Whatever had happened… Maya had been broken by it. And now, she hated him. Or at least, she wanted to. --- Flashes of the Past He closed his eyes, gripping the letter. And then— Another flash of something. A woman crying. His own voice, shouting. A stormy night. A door slamming shut. And then… darkness. Adithyan gasped and stumbled back. His head throbbed. Why couldn’t he remember? Why did it feel like the truth was just out of reach? Then, suddenly— His phone buzzed. A new message. "I warned you to leave Kochi. Now, you’ll regret staying." Adithyan’s blood ran cold. Someone didn’t want him to remember. But it was too late. Because now, he would stop at nothing to uncover the truth.
