I woke up with Seth gone. I had figured he wouldn’t stay. I hoped, though, that something from last night had gotten through to him. Thinking it over, I realized I meant every word I said. I wanted them both — wolves and all. I knew they would keep me safe. With time, I could get Seth to open up. I had seen it in his eyes the night before. The wall was cracking.
I checked my phone and found a text from Carter.
