chapter 1

Rameez pov:

I paced back and forth in my office as my assistant gave me another report of missing files and documents. Who could’ve been doing this. There are only few trusted employees in each department that have access to the information. But I know they wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize company’s reputation. But then again, I can’t really say if they were bribed or forced.

Currently, I’m waiting for my security to send me footage. Hopefully I would know who did it. The knock interrupted me from my thoughts. I called ‘come in’ before going back to sit in my seat. My assistant came in and put a folder on my table, I opened the manila folder and emptied the contents on the table. Out came a USB and few photographs.

Attaching the USB, I waited for the screen to pop open and display the security footage. My brow furrowed as the footage proceeded. I paused as the face of the culprit came into view, I looked towards my security and nodded at him. He nodded at me before leaving the room, I focused back on the screen and zoomed in on the culprit. It was who I trusted the most, Ms. Huda, she is one of the trusted employee of our organization. Yet, she did this. Nobody could be trusted these days.

Few days earlier

My phone ring was what got me out of my bed. Reaching for the phone I picked it up and saw the caller ID to be my finance department head. I checked the time, It was around 8:00 o'clock . picking up my Phone I answered only to be heard his frantic voice.

“Mr Rameez, we have a situation. you have to quickly.” his voice sounded urgent so I replied OK and went to change. Afterall, it must be something he is calling me directly and not through my assistant.

Exactly half an hour later, I was in my office with the head, Mr. Danish who was shaking and biting his nails. He passed me a file, and said, “you better look at this, Mr Ramirez.” Raising a brow at him, I took the file and opened it. There were financial records of my company, a few snaps and some newspaper. I looked at the records and found last year records. However, my brow knitted in confusion as I looked at the records, I had looked at these a few weeks ago. And this was not it. The amounts were not same, this showed completely different amounts. According to this, we are experiencing a loss but the one I was shown had a profit.

My gaze met him, who was looking at me nervously. Mr Danish fidgeted in his place, if any other situation I would have been amused seeing a man like Mr. Danish fidget. Mr Danish was a tall burly man, even taller than me but he was one of the oldest employee here. I was just a boy when he started working here and I used to be so afraid of him that I would hid behind my father table whenever he came to father’s office. However, he turned out to be a friendly person and hardworking too. So seeing such a burly and brooding man nervous and fidgeting would have been amusing. However, right now we have other problems and as I opened my mouth he started speaking.  “Mr Rameez, you know how long I have worked here and I would not do anything to harm the reputation of this organization. You ate like a son to me, I would not-“ He was blabbering now so I cut him off, “Mr. Danish, please just tell me what’s going on exactly.”  I asked as I motioned him to sit, he sat and sighed. “well, Mr. Rameez, these are the statements that should have been shown to you, but I found these yesterday in the waste paper. You were shown wrong statements. Someone is messing with the accounts and stealing away information.” My eyes widened as I heared that, well, I had heard about these things going around in news how an employee sold information for money. But this happening in my organization, was a shock. “who do you think is the culprit, Mr. Danish?” Mr. Danish bit his lip as he leaned forward, “I suspect it is your PA, Ms. Huda.” He whispered and my eyes widened. The hazel eyed beauty came into my mind as he mentioned her to be the culprit.  

Ms. Huda started working with me a few years ago when Alishba left the company. She quickly learned everything and soon become my one of the most trusted employee. Why would she do that? I can’t picture HER doing such a crime. She looked so fragile, kind, beautiful and- I abruptly stopped myself from thinking any further. She is my employee. I looked at Mr. Danish with a frown, “Mr. Danish, are you sure? It is not wise to blame someone. What if she is not?” I raised a brow but he answered, “but what if she is? Think about it, except me and you she has access to accounts because she is your PA.” he had a point, not even his assistant has access. But, the idea of Huda and culprit is not setting well, “how are you so sure? I can’t come to any conclusion if you have no proof.” He nodded and got up, “I know sir, I am already on it and I will give you a report as soon as I could find it.” He left after that. Leaving me to think of huda. 

Present  

I paced as I waited for them to arrive. Apparently, Ms. Huda was on leave for two days due to a family emergency but this was also an emergency and I can’t let it slip. As much as she is an enchanting beauty, my company comes first. After almost an hour, the door opened in came my security with Ms. Huda, who looked like someone caught her red handed. My eyes furrowed as she walked in looking scared now that she is caught. I motioned her to sit and stood a few feet away from her.

 The hazel eyed beauty stared at me with fear. Keeping my eyes passive I showed no emotion. "So, Ms. Huda, what do you have to say for yourself?" She gulped and looked down fiddling with her fingers. "I-I.." she bit her lip and my eyes followed her every move. I stooped to her eye level, making her look at me. "Ms. Huda, you do know that for stealing the information from my company, that was confidential, I could sue you." Her eyes widened and they glistened. "So tell me , why you did that? Who told you to?" She kept looking at me and luring me, hypnotizing me, I blinked and looked away before I was lost. 

"So, I'll take it you won't tell me. I guess this goes to court." I attempted to stand up but she held my hand her eyes widened and tears formed, "No, No no....please don't do that. They will kill me if they find out. They are watching my family. They'll kill them." I frowned and tried to ignore the effect of her hands on mine. "That's what I'm asking, who are THEY?" She bit her lip and looked away, "Zain and Alya." That one word and it felt like re-living everything. 

Alya. 

"Sign these papers Alya and never show me your face again. I don't want to see you." 

I looked back at the beauty, "Ms. Huda, from now on my security will follow you. You'll continue your work with me. You'll live with me, as my wife."  I got up and she stood up too. “What? I can’t marry you. I won’t.” Her eyes lit up in anger as she tried to argue with me.

I pinched my eyes and then looked up again, “Look Ms, Huda, if you didn’t do this your life could be in danger. You understand now that we know you were behind this I could sue you for that. What you did is a crime.” I know I was being unfair but oh well, I have to keep her with me. The fear came back in her eyes as her lips whimpered, “Please, my family needs me. I can’t abandon them.” she said in low voice and I felt a stir in me. “that is why I am saying you need to marry me so I could protect you AND your family will be taken care off.” I tried to reason with her and she just stared at me dumbfounded.

Then she took a calm breath and looked at me, “Mr. Ramee, I can’t marry you. Please keep me somewhere else, but I won’t marry you. Sue me if you want to.” With that she turned and left. I was staring after her dumbfounded. She just left saying I could sue her when she was begging me to save her family just a few minutes ago. I rubbed my chin, strange woman.  I turned to my security and motioned one to follow her and turned to others, “Mr. David, hire security for Ms. Huda family. Make sure no one is out of your sight. And tell Diana to clean my penthouse, shift Ms. Huda there. If I am not wrong Alya would contact her. We need proofs to sue them.” with that I dismissed them.

Taking a seat, I closed my eyes and smiled, you will be mine to protect, my hazel beauty.
