knock knock. Jolting up in my bed and reached towards my foot when the person knocking called out asking if I had room service after I replied with a calm, "No." I placed my dagger back into the concealed strap of my boot. I told myself to calm my heartbeat and focus on the ground, feel how stable it was. I should get up, I should start planning my leave, my escape if things around here got tough and which way I should head next but my eyes wandered to the door, this was the first real-time I had a proper bed, proper shower and maybe even some spare time. Should I really waste the opportunity? I grabbed my journal and phone deciding to leave the room, of course, it would be a little hard but I knew I needed to try and avoid staff as much as possible, if they realised no one had seen me before now then it would create an issue. I headed towards the cafeteria hoping for the amount I borrowed last night by one of the others in the hotel to be worth it after all £85.00 is not worth the trouble for a few days stay at this place, but if that's the amount for a night or two plus free food it was way better than expected. Avoiding most eyes I walked down the halls, for once I actually walked with a little pride with my hygiene smelling better, my hair pulled into a perfect ponytail and a full nights rest. I started to feel more comfortable as I reached the cafeteria, knowing if I had to I'd sneak some food out without being seen. Walking up to the counter, I gave my sweetest smile and waited with little hope when the man passed a plate to me. "It's a buffet kid, go wild." I sampled almost every item I could before getting a little pile of food and eating as much as my stomach could take until it felt like a balloon about to pop. Laughter filled the air as I glanced over at two boys running around in swimming trunks, the tallest brother was holding a ball in his hand holding it up while the smaller one tried to chase him for it. Sitting close to them as they ran around the pool when the youngest brother slipped and shouted, the older having his eyes going wide. "He can't swim!" I don't know why or how I even ran so fast but for some reason, I jumped in after the boy, diving to the bottom where he floated starting to drown. Wrapping my arms around him I lifted his head above water while the lifeguard was swimming towards us and people gathered around. Coughing I pulled him up over the side and started pressing on his chest when he choked up water and looked up at his brother trembling before looking over at me and smiling softly. "Y-you're the angel who saved me? Thank you." I shook my head and helped him slowly sit up while water dripped from my clothing, "You shouldn't run in the hotel, especially near the deep or shallow end of the pool silly." I gently bopped him on his head before smiling a little and rubbing his back, the older brother looked at me sincerely. "Thank you so so so much for saving my brother, I'm Charlie and this is Max." "Bacia, nice to meet you."
