CHAPTER SIX
ARYNA
I pushed the door open, my footsteps echoing on the marble floor as I walked into the mansion.
The living room was empty. I looked around, a dry laugh escaping me.
My photo frames had been replaced with Gina's.
I snorted, rolling my eyes in disbelief.
"So soon."
I marched straight to the room upstairs without a second thought. I needed to leave here soon.
Everything around me annoyed me.
My mouth parted as I opened the safe and found nothing in it.
A deep frown settled on my face. Who would have taken it?
No one knows rhe password to the lock?!
"Looking for this? I knew you'd come back for it."
I turned quickly and froze. He was right there, staring.
"Ryan." His name escaped my mouth, a surprise washing over me.
He had the jewellery box in his hand. How did he figure that out?
"What are you doing here, uh?" I flinched as he moved closer but didn't move my legs. I wanted him to do worse, but he wasn't going to get away with that box, ever!
He yanked my chin, making me look into his eyes. "I thought you left." He raised a brow. His glare was daring and with those eyes scowling at me, I felt he might strangle me any sooner.
I slapped his hand off, wiping my chin like there was some dirt on it.
I used to like it when he touched me, but no longer. Even his cologne was like dunghill to my nostrils.
"I came to take what was mine, and I'm not leaving without it." I spat, my eyes locked on his.
He tilted his head and chuckled, the sound sharp and cruel.
"You came into this mansion with nothing, Aryna, and you're leaving the same way!"
I rolled my eyes at him, letting out a dry laugh.
"Of course, Ryan Moore." I moved my hand to pat his hair, "I'm leaving with none of the things you got for me or perhaps the one your grandma forced you to buy, but this...." I gestured at the box in his hand, "....is mine, not yours. See this as a timely reminder and hand it over now before I smack your face!"
He shoved my hand away, closing the space between us.
I gulped watching the corner of his lips curl up. He clearly underestimated me, but I wasn't ready to let my resolve melt.
"Really?" He scoffed, "I see that riffraff has taught you a lot of things during the few hours you spent messing around with him. Now you talk back at me? "You must have forgotten who I am, Aryna, don't you?!"
My lips curled up, amusement flickering in my eyes, "Of course, I never forgot who you are, Ryan Moore. You're just a wolf in sheep's clothing. Outside, people think you're the sweetest because they think you're nice and best at your job, but behind closed doors....." Pausing, a scoff flew through my lips, "a devil is all I see."
The surprise was evident in the way he leaned back, blinking rapidly.
"How dare you talk to me in this way!"
I caught his wrist midair, just before the slap could land, "What do you think you're doing? You think you can control me like you did before? "Tsk tsk," I shook my head, "that was before!"
"You backstabber!" He grabbed my arm this time, pinning me to the wall as his fingers dug into my skin, "just a day away from home, you're that way. I shouldn't have believed you ever loved me. This was the reason I have kept you hidden from society for years now. I knew you would jump at the opportunity of getting comfort from another man."
I sneered, "The comfort you never gave me. You forgot to add. You only never trusted, Ryan, you had never loved me. All you're bent on is making your best friend comfortable and leaving me love starved."
"How else can I show my love to you? You've never been satisfied with anything and about Gina? She isn't only my best friend..."
I cut in, "yes, you don't have to explain. I caught you two in bed. I know you had an affair and it's still on. Well..." I shrugged, pushing him away, "I don't care. You can do whatever you like with her because I'm done with you!"
He grinned, raising his hands up in surrender, "I have always wanted this stupid marriage bond broken between us but there's no f*****g way you're leaving me for Holland."
I clicked my tongue, my arms folded across my chest, "are you scared now, Ryan? Oh no, don't be. I'm happy you appreciate us breaking apart and I wish you good life with your best friend. She's always been the one you wanted by the way, not me."
I picked the jewelry box he dropped on the bed earlier, I stopped at the doorstep when I heard Ryan's voice.
"This marriage is baseless by the way. You've never been able to satisfy me. You never gave me the heir I want and when you got the chance to do, you lost it too."
My expression froze. How did he know I lost the baby?
"The nurse told me," he said like he was reading my mind. "....also I found the test result too. It's shameful, don't you think? The fact that you're incapable causes a weight of pain in my heart."
"Well," I recomposed, failing to let his words get to me, "now you have Gina. She should be able to give you everything I couldn't I give to you and I will also give to Holland everything I had failed to make you get." I said, looking over my shoulder. "What do you think about that?"
He stiffened as though my words had slapped him and was excited too.
He should feel the pain of inferiority.
I smirked at him. This was just the beginning.
"Wait!" He said sharply, stopping me from taking a step. I turned around and he handed an envelope to me. "You're invited to our engagement party. Gina and I had been planning this all along without you. Sorry we didn't let you know."
I clutched the envelope right, squeezing it in my palm.
They were getting married already? This shower just how ignorant I had been.
I forced a smile, "sure." I nodded, "expect me at the venue but I won't be coming alone."
"Sure your messed up life is there to accompany you." He taunted, a smirk curving his lips as he chuckled.
I moved closer, whispering in his ear, "no, Ryan. I'm coming with the man you'd sure be happy to see— Holland Sinclair. We'd be your distinguished guest."
His brows shot up, clearly taken aback by what I had said. "Aryna!" His jaws clenched as he seized me by the waist, drawing me to him, "not, Holland. Not any man. If you're going to leave me, fine! But you aren't ending up with anyone especially that riffraff!"
I snatched myself away from him, "you're no one to tell me that. You have no right to dictate who I choose." I paused as I got to the door again, "the divorce papers would come in tomorrow and I need your signature on it."
