Chapter 2 The Newbie Gift Package!
[Ding! Opening Newbie Gift Package...]
Chen Feng gripped the edge of the mattress. The system had never warned him about anything before, so he didn't like how seriously it was taking this.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained a Ferrari La Stella Rossa!]
[Vehicle Value: ¥50,000,000. Vehicle Type: One-of-a-kind bespoke Ferrari hypercar. The vehicle has been registered in the host's name, and all ownership documents have been prepared.]
"FERRARI?!" His voice cracked. "Fifty million yuan?!"
He read the number again, just in case it was a typo. It wasn't.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained God-Tier Driving Skills! The host now possesses world-class driving ability, including extraordinary vehicle control and mastery of high-performance automobiles.]
Chen Feng stared at the window as if the car might be parked outside. This morning, the most expensive thing he had ever driven was a rented bicycle with a wobbly chain.
"This system really knows how to spoil someone."
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained an American Express Centurion Card!]
Even a guy who couldn't tell a bond from a bagel knew what that card meant. The system added that the account arrangements were already complete, and he could almost picture it: matte black, titanium, his name engraved across the front.
He leaned back against the wall and laughed. Twenty minutes ago, he'd been staring at ¥286.40.
Then the system spoke again.
[Host, do not become complacent simply because you have obtained the system.]
Chen Feng raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
[The rewards of the Daily Check-In System depend on the location where the host checks in. Different locations have different evaluations, and both the type and value of the reward depend on the location.]
"So location matters." He rubbed his chin. "Does a prestigious place give a better reward than an ordinary one?"
[The host may discover the answer through personal experience.]
He glanced around the dorm: 4 beds, a desk buried under textbooks, Wang Hao's socks drying on a chair, and a faint smell of instant noodles that no amount of ventilation had ever fully removed. It wasn't a luxury hotel or a famous landmark. It was just where he lived.
Still, it was his current location. Why not try?
"System, what would I get for checking in at my dorm?"
[Location evaluation in progress...]
[Location: Modu University Dormitory. Location Evaluation: Ordinary.]
His mouth twitched. "Ordinary? You could've been a little nicer about it."
The system ignored him.
[Ding! Daily Check-In successful! You have received a cash reward of ¥100,000,000!]
Chen Feng read it once. Then he read it again, slowly, as if the zeros might rearrange themselves.
"One hundred million yuan?" he whispered. Then he shot off the bed so fast the mattress bounced. "For an *ordinary* dorm?!"
If this was the payout for a room that smelled like instant noodles, he didn't want to imagine what a luxury hotel would give him. He shook the thought away before it ran off without him.
"System, where's my money?"
**[The cash reward has been transferred to the host's designated account.]**
He snatched up his phone and opened his banking app. The balance loaded, and he counted the zeros on his fingers, twice, just to be safe.
¥100,000,286.40
His roommates could walk in any minute. He locked the screen and held the phone against his chest as if it might leak.
He thought of Xinyi, who never complained about how thin she stretched her allowance, and Yichen, who kept insisting he didn't need new sneakers. For years, every yuan that reached Chen Feng's hands had gone through them first.
Not anymore.
He was still smiling when the system chimed again.
[Ding!]
[The Ferrari La Stella Rossa has been delivered to Modu University.]
[Current location: University parking area.]
Chen Feng's smile froze.
A one-of-a-kind ¥50,000,000 hypercar was sitting in a student parking lot, and his whole campus could see it.
He grabbed his key and ran for the door.
