"The proposed joint project between Pinnacle and Phoenix Industries," I answered calmly, my voice carrying none of the disgust I felt at Howard's earlier behavior.
"But it says here you're paying us fifty percent below market rate!" Howard tossed the file back onto the table, his face reddening. "That's insulting!"
I leaned forward slightly, my posture relaxed yet dominant. "That's a lifeline for your sinking company, Mr. Banks. Phoenix Industries has posted negative cash flow for three consecutive quarters. Your banks are calling their loans ahead of schedule. Rating agencies and auditors are circling like vultures." I allowed a small, predatory smile to form on my lips. "Without an immediate cash injection, Phoenix Industries is finished. We both know it."
