The Dragon

The dragons had lost. No longer were they the lords of the sky, who were feared yet respected by the masses. No longer were they guides for the races who were embroiled in endless war. When a bandit masquerading as a hero decided to kill a dragon for the wealth granted to it, he brought back the head, as if to show the world that dragons’ were a simple animal that could be hunted. The ones which previously looked up to them had their hearts twisted in greed, and were no longer content with gifts. They began to aim for the dragon races throat. The dragons didn’t go down without a fight. They annihilated almost everyone which attempted to kill them. One dragon put an end to several kingdoms. But then the races began to learn. They developed weapons designed solely for dragons, and even began to make weapons out of the flesh and bones of dragons. Slowly and slowly the numbers of the dragons dwindled. No longer were the dragons the lords of the sky. They were forced into hiding. The strongest ones decided to sacrifice them for their race. They began to act as scapegoats, showing off their power and wealth to all. The ones which walked on land forgot that the ones that were weak existed, and decided to hunt down the ones which were called High Dragons which secluded themselves, away from the others. They fought on and on. Tooth and claw versus sword and shield, an eternal battle. 3 out of the 10 had died. Only 7 were left. Spending day and night they trained and fought, all for the sake of living. Soon, the High Dragons could be called the strongest. This didn"t stop the earth walkers from challenging them. This didn"t stop the High Dragons from fighting them. The fighting raged on; it might have never ended. But then on one faithful day, one of these High Dragons found an abandoned child...
