I squinted as the lights flickered above me, signalling yet another day of tests had begun. Gazing over at the large metal door, my emotionless eyes followed Harod and Melissa as they entered the room, looking overly chipper. "Breakfast," huffed Harod as he pulled my chamber door open, quickly sliding my plate of food over to me before exiting in a hurry. My stomach growled at the sight of the large plateful of food in front of me. I was usually only given lunch in the middle of the day to keep me weak, and my body was desperate for extra nutrients. As I picked at the food in front of me slowly, not wanting to push my limit, Harod pulled out a couple of handcuffs from his pocket. It caused me to stop chewing immediately, my brown eyes going wide. "Relax, they're only silver," he chuckled as a wave of nausea overcame me, causing me to nearly vomit up all of the food I had just ingested. "Today we are going to test how your body reacts to constant contact with silver, and if the painful side effects eventually subside," announced Melissa, causing my eyes to water, knowing I was about to endure pure agony. "You'll be chained up with these and we will check back on you every hour to see how you are holding up," spoke Harod as he made his way up the stairs, pulling the door open and stallking towards me. "Please, don't!" I cried as he pulled me up off the floor, wrapping the silver handcuffs around my wrists and locking them. He dropped me back onto the ground, and I landed with a harsh thump. I shook as I felt the silver slice open my skin, a searing pain spreading across my Wrists as I winced in pain, clenching my teeth in an attempt to not scream. "This is Wrong!" I snapped my head towards the sound of the voice to se a furious looking Lily glaring at Harod and Melissa, who simply rolled their eyes, ignoring her. "You're torturing a young girl! Do you have no guilt?!" growled Lily, causing me to furrow my brows, c*****g my head as I gazed at her. I was still unsure why she was trying to help me. Melissa turned to Lily, her fists clenched and her face as red as a tomato. "We are doing our jobs here, if you don't like it, then leave! You are no help to us!" "I hope he kills the both of you slowly and painfully" muttered Lily quietly- so quietly I barely even heard it. She swiftly walked out of the room, giving me one last pitiful look before slamming the door shut. I gazed at the door, wondering why this new intern was so against my torture, and why she even got the job in the first place, knowing what it would endure. "We will return in an hour," said Harod as both him and Melissa turned to walk out of the door, but they stopped in their tracks. They narrowed their eyes as a large bang echoed throughout the room, causing them both to gasp, the ground shaking. I covered my ears at the deafening noise, Squeezing my eyes shut as the wall to the lab exploded, rubble and bricks flying through the air. They smashed into my thick glass chamber, shattering it, the glass almost piercing me. I cried out in fear, cowering in the coner, watching in horror as multiple men barged through the rubble. Screams bounced off of the walls as Melissa and Harod panicked, rushing out of the room. They tripped over bricks and appliances as they did so, a few men rushing after them as they disappeared around the corner. "There's one in here!" yelled one of the men, pointing over to me. "Go and check the other rooms! Ill get this one!" I recoiled back at the sound of the man's booming voice, his tone firm and assertive. He made his way over to me, looking me up and down in pity before hoisting me up in his large muscular arms, causing me to squirm. Is this what Lily meant when she had said 'he' was coming? I looked back at my now shattered chamber, glaring at it with hate, feeling some form of victory now that it was just a pile of pieces on the ground, broken, like me. I was carried out of the lab room, noticing how other wolves were also hauled out of their shattered chambers, looking battered and bruised. Their faces were masked with relief as they realised they were no longer trapped behind glass. "Andiamo sbrigati! Move it!" My heart quickened as a loud voice filled the hallway, tingles erupting across my entire body at the sound of it. A wave of anxiety rushed over me as I scanned the surrounding area, attempting to find the Source of the husky voice. It was laced with a slight Italian accent, and my heart hammered against my runs as I turned my head from side to side. Suddenly, the man holding me whirled around, and I gasped, my eyes settling on an extremely tall and muscular man standing a few feet away from us. His brows furrowed as he looked around, his harsh hazel eyes landing on me, softening slightly. "Drop her," he growled at the man who was carrying me, his chest rising up and down as he attempted to control his breathing, striding over to us. I gazed up at the tall man that stood before us, his eyes boring into mine as he glared angrily at the handcuffs that were tightly Wrapped around my wrists, my skin burned and bloody underneath. "Yes, Alpha Trevor," replied the man, instantly setting me down gently, taking a few steps back in confusion. My heart began to palpitate as I gazed up at in awe. Everything around me became a blur and it seemed as if my world had completely stopped. I felt drawn to him, and although I didn't know him, I felt more at ease than I ever had before. Keeping eye contact, the man before me yanked the handcuffs off of me, throwing them to the ground, his sharp jawline clenched as he watched my face for any signs of pain. Once he saw me flinch, he cursed nder his breath, shaking his head. The god-like man quickly hoisted me up, causing me to wrap my arms around his neck instinctively, so as not to slip, as he stalked out of the lab building. He gently set me down on the grass. crouching down in front of me. He pulled my wrists to him, eyeing them up with a piercing gaze, his hands shaking underneath mine, signalling to me that he wasn't very happy. "Cosa ti hanno fatto, amore mio?" he questioned, causing me to frown, furrowing my brows. "I will kill whoever did this to you." I shook my head, pulling my pulsating wrists back to my chest, cradling them. "Alpha, all the lab workers are dead, and everyone has been rescued," spoke the man who had found me as he ran over to us, eyeing me up strangely as he looked between Trevor and I. Trevor nodded, his jaw still clenched as he ran his hands through his dark hair, sliding his hand down his face until it rested on his stubble. "Start heading back, and get them all to the pack hospital immediately." "Do you need help with this one, Sir?" Trevor didn't take his glowing eyes off of me, shaking his head slightly before waving the man away. "No, I've got her." I watched as the man helped to gather up the bruised and battered wolves, some being carried away towards large black cars, all disappearing in a matter of seconds. "We have to go now, amore mio," spoke Trevor as he reached his arm out tO me, causing me to eye him up suspiciously, my face masked with fear. Where did those men take those other wolves? Were they just being moved to another lab where they would continued to get tested on? Was this my only chance to run? "Don't even think about it," warned Trevor, his voice deep and husky, one of his eyebrows raised. "IH don't-" I mumbled, frantically looking around for some sort of escape route, feeling overwhelmed. Trevor's eyes softened and he sighed, closing them for a few seconds before hoisting me up in his arms, causing me to inhale sharply. "I won't hurt you. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." Although my body felt at ease in Trevor's arms, I was still on edge. I didn't know this man and I had no idea where he was taking me.
