" Clara!" I heard him shout.
I opened my eyes to the perfect morning rays.
" What did you do with my phone. " He asked.
I blinked my eyelashes. " Your phone? "
I turned to face him.
" Did you read my message?"
My heart beat skipped. That message.
" Can't you speak? " He shouted.
" Calm down Adrian you don't need to flare up."
He stood up and faced his mirror stand.
" That last night guy is gone, Clara. Now answer me, did you read my message? "
" I...I...I..didn't. "
His fists clenched. " How dare you, Clara. "
I sat on the bed looking straight at him.
" It's fine I guess you know it now."
A dangerous grin appeared on his face.
My hands trembled. " I'm..."
" Hear me well, Clara. You mustn't tell anyone what you saw including my family. "
" Your family? They could help out." I said summoning up courage.
" They don't need to."
He walked towards the bathroom and turned halfway.
" Don't ever touch my things again. And if you do."
I stayed mute.
" I better not say it what I'd do." He said and went into the bathroom.
I stood up from the bed, stretched and walked towards the mirror.
My lips were swollen from his kiss.
I'm glad it was that only because I'd be regretting if I gave him my body.
I couldn't stop my mind from replaying the last night drama.
" Out of my room, I need privacy." I heard his voice from behind
I went over to pick up my slippers without saying a word neither stealing a glance at him.
" Can you be fast."
I flung open the door and walked out.
I hurried into another room to have my bath and decided to make breakfast.
I still owe him a lot for getting me that admission.
I heard the creaking sound of the kitchen door.
" I'm making breakfast. " I said trying to bring back yesterday emotions.
" You can eat up your food I'm not hungry." He said and poured a glass of water.
" It's your favourite. "
" Don't try it Clara. Don't go there. It's a bad day already and you caused it. "
" I..I.."
" Stop trying to bring back that guy of yesterday. He's gone. I hope you understand that."
He put down the glass cup and walked out of the kitchen.
My hands tightened on the metal spoon I held. Why would he say all that.
I pulled down the window of my new room.
The alarm clock beeped. 1:55am.
I sighed I had been thinking about how schooling in my dream university would be.
The students, the buildings, the wealth, every damn thing.
I closed my eyes and shook away the thought.
I got ready to sleep when I remembered my face mask was in Adrian's room.
I pushed open the door and walked towards his room.
His room smelt like him as always but he wasn't in there.
I walked to where the face mask should be. It wasn't there.
My eyes searched his room and I met with a book on his bed. His diary.
I walked towards it and held it. I took in a quick breath.
Opened the first page. Nothing much just office stuff.
The bathroom knob shifted.
A page opened the minute I roughly dropped it. I saw only one sentence
" I can do anything to help myself out of it, even if it means hurting those I love. "
" What are you doing in my room, Clara."
" I..sorry..I'm.. I came over to take my face mask." I stammered.
" I threw it away."
" You did what?" I asked trying to regain myself.
" I can't possibly keep that old face mask in my room."
" You..shouldn't have done that." I said calmly.
" You don't tell me what to do, Clara."
My heart pounded as his gaze shifted to the open diary on his bed.
" How on earth could I leave this open." He murmured.
I exhaled loudly. Glad he didn't find out.
" What was that for?"
" What? " I pretended like I didn't know what he was talking about.
" You can leave."
My face mask. " I can't leave without my face mask."
" Fine it's in the trash bin you can go over to take it."
" I can't do that."
He ran his hands into his curly hair. Messing it up.
He looked all hot and attracting right now.
He would have more ladies to himself if he went out with a messy hair every day.
" What do you want me to do?"
" Get my face mask. " I said trying to sound stubborn.
He have done enough bad than good to me already.
Enough of trying to please him.
" You're making me go insane, Clara. "
I sat down on his bed and looked up at him.
" What are you doing? "
" Give me what I want and I leave."
His jaw fell. He wasn't expecting that from me.
He had to also pay for flirting with me last night.
" It's fine you can do whatever you want. I don't care. "
He said as he flung the bed duvet over himself.
" Is that what you're really going to do?" I said.
" Can you just leave. Aren't you tired. You need to rest. "
My eyes kept on shifting to the drawer he kept his diary.
He was hiding a lot. A whole lot. From his message to his diary.
Something was certainly wrong.
" Are you still here. " I heard him voice.
" What are you hiding, Adrian. "
He opened his eyes and looked at me.
" You see the reason why you shouldn't have read the message. "
I blinked. He had more to say.
" You're going to get disturbed all your life, Clara. "
" If I get disturbed then what do I say about you the victim."
He sat up and shifted his gaze to his phone.
" You won't ever get how I feel, Clara."
" Try me, Adrian. "
" Why bother to try when I know it's never possible for you to understand. "
" I could help.." I got interrupted by something at the door.
I kept quiet. It was that strange midnight knock again.
