Chapter Fourteen
Meikah watched her grandmother for a moment before she hurried after her. Reaching the parlour, she remained in the doorway, not sure what to say. When Isha patted the seat beside her, she slowly crossed the room and sat down.
“What happened?”
“Not much.”
“Something must have happened for you to walk out of the Dark Blade Academy.”
She couldn’t meet Isha’s gaze. “I guess I got a better offer.”
“What sort of offer?”
She glanced at Isha. “Do we have to talk about it? I’m sure I’ll hear more than enough about it over dinner.”
Isha reached out and patted Meikah’s hand that rested on her lap. “I went home this morning to open up the house. I’ll wait for Maksim there. There’s no need for me to stay here until he returns from his latest mission.”
