Wanting to check on Rafe, Meikah headed for the front door. “I’ll see everyone later.”
“Where are you going?” Ena demanded.
Meikah opened the door, ignoring her sister.
Heron put out a hand to prevent Meikah from leaving. “You will go to the academy today. Do you want to end up back where your grandfather started?”
There was a room above Fable for her. But her father wouldn’t appreciate that information. “Of course I don’t.”
“I don’t want to hear any more bad reports. Understand?”
Knowing there was no other answer she could give, Meikah nodded her head.
Heron lowered his arm. “Come straight home this afternoon. There’ll be no visits to friends or any other outings until the rumours about you being a necromancer stop circulating.”
