Chapter Twelve
Taking a deep breath, Meikah was surprised to find her anger had faded, along with the power that had filled her. Giving a single nod, she waited for Kellan to do the same before she attacked. Their blades met, the sound joining those of other blades colliding. She couldn’t resist grinning. He was better than her, but she wasn’t about to admit it. There was no way she could beat him. Her hand went to the dagger at her side.
Kellan chuckled, nodding at the dagger. “It won’t help, but go ahead. You draw yours and I’ll use mine.”
She hesitated. She’d never used a dagger before. Today was the first time she’d faced an opponent with a sword and dagger.
“Dare you.” His words were full of laughter.
She couldn’t resist, drawing the dagger at her side, attacking with it when the
