Chapter Sixteen
Meikah strode after Kellan, ignoring Shade’s smile and Livia’s grin. Mace was the only one who wasn’t amused by her comment. Then she noticed he was trying not to smile. She glared at each of them as she passed, realising that neither Danton nor Amiel were in the room. She started to ask where they were, then decided it didn’t matter. She was only here to keep Webb safe. Nothing else was important.
Kellan led her to one of the bedrooms, remaining in the doorway when she entered. He closed the door as soon as she was in, the flickering light of a candle preventing the room from being plunged into darkness.
Meikah stared at the door for a moment, tempted to once again tell him she didn’t need a bedroom. She decided it would be a waste of breath. He obviously didn’t listen
