Chapter 3: Jaco Javier

"If her heart beats like thunder and her soul cries like rain, feed her love." - Robbie J. Sherrah VERA As I stepped inside the lobby of the famous Javier's Five-Star Hotel, I was greeted by so many curious stares coming from the employees as well as guests. Today, I'm wearing a body-hugging black dress and a 3-inch pair of black heels that I personally designed. I only smiled a little and, with my chin held high, I started to walk past them. "Good day Lady Vera! I'm Katherine, and I was advised to assist you with Mr. Javier's office. This way please!" The girl near the front desk told me with a broad grin plastered on her lips. She seemed very excited. "Why is Lady Vera here?" "Damn, she's so gorgeous!" "Is she the new investor of Sir Jaco?" I heard them murmuring. But then, I just ignored all of it. I have no time for that. I still have a board meeting later this afternoon, so I need to hurry. I don't have much time to waste. When we finally reached the top floor, Katherine led me into a humongous office. It's all glass from the outside, that's why I can see a little bit of what's inside. "Is Sir Jaco inside his office?" I heard her ask the handsome guy in a black suit who I assumed was Mr. Javier's secretary. "Yes Kath. Sir Jaco's been waiting inside for Lady Vera." He politely answered her as he opened the door for us. "Excuse me Sir. Lady Vera is here." I heard his secretary inform him before he let me in. As I finally entered, my eyes immediately wandered around. I was mesmerized by the modernized design of the room. It was accentuated with the colors black, gray, white, and gold. Hmm, very mature and luxurious. And everything seems aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. I also noticed a bookshelf filled with different thick books. Oh, a reader like me. "Why are you looking for me, Mi Amore?" suddenly came from a deep, baritone voice. My eyes widened as they settled on the handsome, dark-haired young man sitting casually in a white swivel chair in front of me. From his thick, perfectly shaped eyebrows, alluring gray eyes, pointed nose, reddish lips, sharp jaw, up to his very muscular body. Damn, he looks regal. And his aura is also exuding with extreme authority and power. But on the contrary, he looks cool, calm, and collected as well. I sighed. What a breathtaking view. 'Jaco Javier' I whispered. I guess the rumors about him were all true. I must admit that they're indeed right about the fact that he's incredibly handsome. But I can say that he looks intimidating at the same time. I swallowed hard. He's the third one on my list. It's been a week since Abuelo told me about the deal and I had already met the first two bachelors and I can say that they were just air-headed jerks and definitely not as good-looking as this man in front of me now. I sighed again. Life's really unfair. I think God took all his time to create him. I also heard that he's really competitive and an over-all achiever. "I will go straight to the point, Mr. Jaco Javier. I'm here to make a proposition with you." I mumbled when I finally found my voice. He stood up and started walking in my direction. Every step he made was creating havoc in my system. Damn, this is completely new to me. When he was right in front of me, inches away from mine, I was shocked by what he did. He held my chin and then caressed my cheek softly, which literally robbed my breath away and made my knees weak. He just caught me off guard. "What is it Amore?" Jaco asked as he continued caressing my face, as our eyes locked with each other. I feel like blushing and melting because of the way he stares at me. And his voice was so husky to my ears that it brought shivers to my spine. 'Mi Amore' and 'Amore' mean 'My Love'. Why does he keep on calling me with that sweet endearment? And why does my heart beat erratically as if it will explode any minute now? This feeling I got when I went with him was entirely foreign to me. Normally, I would push away every guy who came this close to me. But why, when it comes to him, I can't even find the strength to do so? Oh, God. What is happening to me? Is this some sort of hypnotism or some sort of sorcery? What is this guy doing to me? Just having him this close to me was enough to send my mind reeling. I groaned and shut my eyes tight to stop my crazy thoughts. I also let go of a deep sigh. I should stop this madness and remember why I'm here. "Let's get married." I mumbled, mastering all the courage left in me. I guess there's no turning back now, Vera.
