PRESENT DAY
Miranda’s supervisor, Mr Richards, called just as she was finishing up her paperwork for the day.
It was the first working day of the New Year and already she had a ton of work piled on her desk. Her current responsibility was liaising with the Government’s Child Care and Protection Agency. One of the services the hospital provided free of charge, was allowing pregnant women who were unable or unwilling to keep their babies, a safe place to deliver. Upon delivery and subsequent discharge from the hospital, it was Miranda’s job to coordinate with the relevant authorities, to place the abandoned babies.
