Chapter 12: Cut To Now

680 Words
And here we are today. SO you may be wondering what had become of it all? Or why during this entire story no beer for ya had come? Or how many I had come for meeeee? Or why am I wearing this golden ring on my eye like a glassless monocle? Or of Nick’s wife and kid? Well fear not for I can fit one more in my bladder before I need to go to go. Michelle, Nick and Mary, who we just made mayor since it was easier, had a meeting. The rest of the town was not called since a lot of us were tired, sore, confused and watchful over Michelle’s men who were licking their wounds, but mostly stroking each other’s egos. You know the excuses: ‘the sun was in my eye’, ‘sand got on my toes’ etc. The meeting lasted a while until the three came out and Mary called out to everyone to hear the plan. “Hear me, hear me!” The crowd gathered town folks on one side and Michelle’s people on the other with the animals in the middle as a barrier. I mean, I doubt it, but it would’ve been nice. “We have come to a decision,” she said with Nick and Michelle nodding in agreement, “we will work and live together.” People were stunned, I was stunned since I was meant to be in that meeting, being the sheriff and all, but I forgot and took a nap. Then the mumbling started… from the chickens. Guess they were unpleased. The humans, however, were more confused and waiting for more. To summarize, since the speech was long, and it was late and dark and I just woke up from a nap, and… dust? Anyway… “Michelle and I spoke at great lengths with Nick present to come to a potential solution for the best of the town. Michelle did come here with the wrong execution,” Michelle does the blush thing not out of embarrassment but the “I see now that I errored” thing. “But his intensions were good. We are not using our land to the fullest and the fullest that we do use, is not used correctly. We either overdo it or under do it. Michelle researched our land. He even sent one of his man, that did not come along for this trip, to further look into it.” People looked around. Man? Which man? “Jeremy.” Awww, that one. He was cute, popped in and out. Sexy sweetheart. “He should have joined the bunch to speak to us, but he was going through hectically, personal family issues and could not. Michelle never brought him up because he presumed we had forgotten him. We obliviously did not.” A pause for our hot emotions to die down a bit. “So starting from a week from now, Michelle and his men, maybe even more, will move here and start helping us make the land the best it shall be. We will discuss more among ourselves in the coming week. This is a good thing. It will work well.” So they went home, we stayed, heard the plan, made a plan. Week later they came back. Revised and combined plans. And we started a working. Michelle’s people would make revised and modernized infrastructures while we improved our farms. While so far, its only been a week. Stop pressuring us. Calm down. As for Nick, his wife and son came back, were caught up and are having dinner at the corner table for their son’s pre-birthday since he usually has friends over for his actual day. So there you have it, I am still the sheriff, Michelle and his men, including Jeremy, moved here and work be on its way. Bit anti-climatic but that how I be, hence the ring around my eye. So what do you do?
