The Apocalypse:The past meets the future

The dream

After dad had left, I put my head down onto my pillow. Due to the fact that I had not been sleeping well for the past few weeks,I slept off immediately. I must have slipped into a dream world because my room does not have crystals lights that blinds me every time I open my eyes. I held my hands up to protect the rays from directly penetrating into my eyes.

The ground I was lying on was soft and when I ran my hands through it,it turned out to be white fur. The entire environment was white,even the attire I had on was white. I finally stood up,I looked around and I saw absolutely nothing. I forced my numb legs to start moving,I had walked for some minutes and I still did not see anything. In a place that was totally white,I wondered how the sun managed to be so hot.

I was sweating and really thirsty. I looked back and forth and I still didn't see anything. I decided to sit still and try to get myself to wake up. It didn't work though and when I opened my eyes,I saw a little girl standing in front of me. She looked very familiar but I also knew that I have never seen her before. Part of her face was covered with a mask. Yet the feeling that I know her personally was too strong for me to deny it. We stared at each other,none of us speaking and when she finally decided to speak,I knew exactly who she was.

"Hi,am Rebecca." Why was she in my dream. I did read somewhere that the person who lost his soul when he had another reincarnated into him could sometime come to haunt him in his dreams. I chose to believe that this is not why she had come. After all,I did not agree to this either. I was fine with staying dead so if she was thinking that I volunteered to take her place in this life and as a result of that,she had come to kill me then I will do well to inform her that I am not the bad guy here.

"So,why are you here? Have you come to kill me? Before you do that,can I just inform you that I did not plan or agree to this. I had died too and they said that for some reasons I have to come here and help this city overcome some sort of calamity. But you should also know that I did not agree to it. I was perfectly fine with staying dead and I honestly do not want to help this city. I don't even know how I am going to start to do that."

"I know you don't know. You have been puzzled and worried since you got here. And that's why I am here. I want to help you out Amelia"

It's been a while since I heard someone call me by my real name and honestly I did miss it. It sounded so good hearing it again. I had stuck it to my brain that I would never be called that again and it felt surreal. I smiled because the name reminded me of home,and as messed up as it was,I still do miss it.

"Oh wow. That is great. But how do you plan on going about that?"

She streched forth her hand and said "come with me and you'll find out". I didn't know if I should trust her. This might just be a plot to kill me but at this point,I had no other option. It was really amazing how she decided to help me. I took her hand and she raised me up from the ground. Rebecca then started leading me to an unknown location and I followed her blindly.

We moved to a place that looked like a hut. She open the door and ushered me in. I stepped in to find a high tech IT room before me. It had everything; computers, keyboards,control panels,and literally everything one will need to operate on a mission. I did not know why she brought me here,so I turned to her and said. "Well,this is a very nice room but why are we here?"

"We are here to analyze your future plans." She took my hand in hers "Amelia,understand that I don't hold it against you for taking over my life. If anything,I am happy that they chosed to replace me with someone as amazing as you. And I do absolutely believe that you can do this better than anyone."

"But Rebecca,I still do not know what I am to do exactly. I have been here for a few weeks and nothing has happened. Maybe they didn't calculate the time well because I don't think anything will happen. Everywhere is so calm and quiet."

"They did not make any mistakes. An apocalypse is coming and you have to be wise and observant enough if you want to stop it."

"So are you telling me that the is a way of stopping it from actually happening?" I was thrilled at the opportunity to stop it from happening at all.

"Yes,but I am not sure that you will like it very much."

"Why not? And before we go any further,what type of apocalypse will we be facing?"

"Unfortunately,I cannot disclose that information to you."

"Which one?"

"The second one"

"Okay,meaning that you can tell me about how I can stop the apocalypse from occurring at all, right?"

"Yes,that I can do. I can give you a hint. And only that"

"Okay,I'm waiting" I listened on rapidly to hear what she had to say.

"To be honest,this would have been avoided if your ancestors never agreed to this deal with the necklace."

I was officially confused,how did that link to the apocalypse? Rebecca saw that I was confused and she went on to explain herself to me.

"By now,I am sure that you are already familiar with the story of the Bills. Your ancestors I mean"

"Yes,I know who the Bills are. How does it relate to the apocalypse that is coming?"

"If you will allow me finish. I was coming to that. Now,if your ancestor in the person of Will Harry did not accept that condition from the wizard back then,we won't be having this problem. See,the two condition that he gave was:

1) Your descendents wont have male children,and

2) The necklace is only to be passed down to the next generation when the current owner of the necklace is about to die." She took a dramatic pause and looked at me. I was getting impatient because she was just telling me things that I had already knew.

"Well,so how does that link?"

"You still won't let me finish"

"Well when you just stand there and stare at me,what do you expect?"

"That's fair. But here in lies the problem. Five generations ago,the necklace was passed down when the owner did not die and the promise that Will Harry made and which was backed up by Sandra Bill,came hunting for blood. The word that was declared a long time ago came to the land in form a volcanic eruption and it took everything with it. The entire city was wiped out. Only one person was left and that's the young girl that was with the necklace. The necklace did protect her but she also lost everything and everyone she had ever known and loved."

"She left the city and went to seek comfort in the arms of a man. Few months later they got married and the cycle of giving birth continued"

She still did not give me any good information. "Okay,nice story. Now what?"

"Now, just few minutes ago my brother Jeffrey convinced Mrs. Brown to give the necklace to Amanda so that both of you could wear it as a best friends patch and she is thinking of accepting to do it"

"What? No,no,no" I could feel the Earth shattering at my own feet. "That can't be true. Mrs. Brown would never do that,she told us the story"

"Mrs. Brown will do absolutely anything for her daughter. And this is what she really wanted"

"So then why did I have to come here? If I had stayed dead,I would not have come here and I would not had that fight with her and she would not have asked her mother to give her the necklace. This is all my fault. No,this is your fault. No body should have sent me here. Things were fine the way they were"

"No,they were not. Amanda was to get the necklace sooner or later even if you didn't come around. You coming around just gave her a reason to. Her mother was planning on giving her the necklace as her 20th birthday gift. It would have happened anyway. But we needed you here because the is a way of stopping it and you can do that"

"Well what are you waiting for then? Tell me already"

"For the necklace to be successful passed down,

1)the former owner of the necklace must be the one to personally put it round the next owner or

2)while handing out the necklace to the next person,the hand used to pass it down must be have the former owner's blood on it."

I could not believe that there is so many rules to this piece of jewelry. "Are you kidding me?"

"Unfortunately,I am not. Now the only way for you to stop the apocalypse is to ensure that my best friend mother does not put that necklace round Amanda's neck". She started to move away from me. I still did not get the whole information. She didn't tell me what I was to do if the necklace had already been passed down.

"Wait, you haven't told me what to do if the necklace has already been passed down?" She turned to look at me and finally the mask was taken from her face and she had Amelia's face.I wasn't given enough time to process that scenario because she spoke her last words that sent chills down my bone under the still hot sun.

"Well,the will be nothing left to do apart from to start preparing for the apocalypse and hoping that you will survive it. Oh and Amelia, take care of my family. And please tell them that I love them" And then she was gone. I woke up as soon as she left. I opened my eyes to find Becky's parents staring down at me.

I looked around and realized that I was in an hospital.

"Why am I in a hospital?"

"Because you slipped into a coma. God I am so happy that you are okay" Of course mom will say something like that.

"How long have I been asleep for"

"A day and a half,I believe"

"I was sleeping for a whole day." I called myself to order and told myself to not focus on that. The important thing now was stopping Amanda from wearing that necklace. "Mom,where is Amanda?"

"She should be at home with her mother. I heard about the fight sweetie and I am so sorry. But it will make you happy to know that we have a plan towards fixing it"

"What do you guys plan on doing?" For a moment,I wished she would tell me something different. I wished that the dream was just fake and that nothing bad will happen at all,but lately I have not been getting my way. So I was prepared for the worst.

"Her mother plans on giving her the necklace so that both of you can wear it as a best friend stuff. Isn't they cute?"

My brain went on over drive. This couldn't happen. I got out of bed slipped on my shoes, ignoring the screams of Rebecca's mom,I started running. My destination was Amanda's house. I had to stop this from happening. I knew that I would not be able to survive it if it came.
