Juliette's POV Juliette did not dare breathe. The darkness around her felt alive, pulsing with a predatory awareness that made her skin prickle. Cold air swept across the warehouse floor, carrying the faint metallic bite of something sharp and dangerous. Somewhere behind her, Kael clung to the bars of his cage, his breaths ragged and heavy. She could still hear the black eyed man’s last whisper lingering in the air like smoke. I have waited a long time for this. Juliette’s pulse raced. Her palms were damp. Every instinct screamed at her to move, to run, to fight, but her legs felt rooted in place. A soft scrape echoed from the shadows ahead.
