Chapter 3

Thinking back to her life just some days back, Alana was a young woman with no boyfriend and peaceful life but little did she know that her life was going to change drastically over a dinner party with her father. She lived a successful life at 23 and most of her dreams had already come true as she was the only child of the richest man in town.

Her life was perfect as she had everything except a "Man". She had a lot of expectations in life and a man was not amongst the top twenty on her list as she saw them as a bunch of unnecessary anxieties.

Alana lives in an apartment beside the city center in the town of Bonamoussadi. The edifice where she lived was well situated that she could have a view of the whole city just by looking from her balcony and her whole life could be on stop just by standing there and enjoying the cold evening breeze after a long day at work.

She had every reason to be happy and her life was better and happier just as she had expected it to. Going around her daily activities was such a great push for her as she could do the things she wanted whenever she wished for.

" Good morning Ms. Alana", Zoe spoke out as she entered her office immediately after knocking on her door.

"Good morning Zoe and how are you today?", Alana inquired taking the file that Zoe was handing over to her. Having her as a secretary was the best thing that could ever happen to her as she had been working for the Moulin Wine Enterprise (MWC), for years now.

Her loyalty was indescribable joined to the incredible work experience that she showcased whenever it was needed. Alana went through the files and with a satisfied look, she asked,

" I hope that there is nothing left from these documents because I will be taking them to my father for the final review and signing this evening.

"Everything is complete ma'am", she responded with a smile.

" Okay then, you may leave now and thanks for four rapidities", her voice filled Zoe tears as she told her that she was only doing her job and nothing more.

Opening her carryall, she slotted the documents inside so as not to forget them at her departure from the office.

Her mood was all happy and she could not wait to get back home to meet with her dad to present the documents that she had in her possession. Her works at the enterprise were paying off and her position as the manager could be felt as she made sure to take care of her future business when her father will be no more.

"Daddy you will be proud of me when you finally get well and come back as the CEO to run things here again", she murmured.

The sun was so hot and the day looked promising, but Harris needed more than that to be able to raise some good cash for his grandmothers medications. Feeling down and deciding to work extra time that day before going home, he stayed at the market hoping to get some work to do for the late buyers.

The day was almost over and Harris had to rush to meet her dad to share the good news about the new deal that she had just got and his signature was the only thing left to latch it. She stood up from her seat, picking up her keys and heading out of the office for her house.

Walking through the building, she smiled at all the personnel that was saluting her as she lead the way out of the building. The warden pushed the door at the entrance and wished her to enjoy the rest of her day, she let out a smile at him wishing him the same. Making her way through the parking lot, she walked up to her car and unlocked the doors, she entered and settled in before driving off to meet with her dad.

Arriving at their house, the sentry, opened the gate and she drive in heading for the parking lot. Cutting the engine, Alana stepped out of her car and looked around as she admired the beauty of the place where she had grown up, she always wished to come back there but her privacy as a grown-up woman was important to her.

" Welcome ma'am", Mia said from behind as she had listened to her car entering the yard, and feeling excited, she came out. Letting a smile at Alana as she walked towards her, she inquired about her wellbeing and she replied happily.

"Where is my father?", she asked walking into the house.

" Your father is about to have his meal", she responded and Alana thanked her and headed to the dining room.

Seeing her father she was very glad and walking to him sitting with Ema his nurse, she embraced him and greeted Ema warmly.

"How are you Alana?", he consulted as he told her to have a seat.

" Thank you father", she said asking Ema about his fitness and well-being, and Ema gave her an assuring look, she told her that everything was going well.

"I am glad to hear that".Taking her bag and bringing out the documents, she told her dad about the new contract that the company had acquired and that is to be the main supplier of wine to several starting firms, Alana was covered with happiness but it was short-lived when her gather spoke out,

" You need to get a man and have a family".

Her smile vanished and looking at him, she asked what he had just said and her father repeated the same thing without blocking an eye. Ema who was sitting just on the other side, excused herself as she told Mr. Moulin that she will be upstairs if he needed anything.

"Father what has getting married got to do with the progress that I am giving rise to for the company", she asked in pain, but her father who had been contemplating over the issue for some time told her that he had not raised his daughter to be single and he did not want a single woman to run his enterprise when he finally joins his predecessors.

Alana eyes were already filled with tears not believing what she was listening to.

" Is this some sort of joke father?", she asked expecting to be in a dream but her dad was very serious about his words but Alana cried out to him saying that she had worked all her life to impress him as she could be whatever she desired as a single woman.
