Rose's POV:
After leaving work, I started the drive home with David following me. This whole day has honestly been super weird. I don't know where the rest of it leads, but I hope to relax a little bit. It's the first holiday away from my kids and it's depressing. On the way home, I decided to call my ex, Jeremy, to try and talk to my kids. Not that they did much of the talking. My almost 2-year-old has just started to say a few words and my youngest is just babbling right now. It was good to say hi and tell them I love them and miss them. They're spending the day with Jeremy and his mom, who never liked me. I just hope they have a good day and full bellies. Jeremy said they're having a blast and doing well. I just have to trust that right now.
As I pull into the parking lot of my apartment, David is still following and parks next to me. I don't really want to invite him in since my house is a disaster because of Marie, my toddler, destroying it last night. He starts to get out of his car and I tell him to just wait for me, and I'll be right out since I'm just going to change my clothes.
As I go inside to change, I start to wonder how smart it is to go on a date with a man I just met, especially to his house. Is it a date? I guess I'm actually not sure, but it definitely seems like it. He doesn't seem like the type to do anything sketchy, and his mom has always been super sweet to everyone. I can't imagine Liz raising a son who isn't a gentleman... I suppose I'll find out soon.
When I'm done changing out of my scrubs and into some leggings and a sweater, I walk out to my car to follow him to his house. He rolls down his window and tells me it's about 15 minutes away and gives me the address in case I lose him. I put the address into the GPS on my phone and put some music on. The drive goes by quickly, and soon we are pulling into what looks like a nice gated community. The houses here are extremely nice. I started to wonder what David does for work so that he could afford a place in this neighborhood. When he turns into a driveway, I pull into the space next to him. I guess this is it.
When we go inside, the inside is very nice and clean. The decor is sparse but goes well with the house. David tells me to take a seat wherever is most comfortable and asks if I want a glass of wine. I accepted and took a seat at his counter to watch him cook. While he cooks we talk about basic things. Favorite things, where we grew up, what our families are like, that sort of thing. As David starts to plate the food, which looks delicious — steaks and asparagus with mashed potatoes, he asks about my kids.
"I have two. Both girls. My oldest is almost 2. Her name is Marie. And my youngest is 8 months old. Her name is Dakota. They're my everything. Do you want to see pictures?"
I pull out my phone and show him pictures of my kids, and he seems genuinely interested, asking questions along the way. Afterward, we eat and talk about more basic things, trying to get to know each other. He seems like a decent guy so far. I seem to think that about all the guys I date though, so I'm probably not the best at judging character right away. I'm interested to see how the rest of the evening goes.
David's POV:
As we finish up eating, I take the dishes to the sink and reflect on all that she's told me. She turns 30 on Monday, which matches up with what my mom said. I need to tell her at this point, but I'm not sure how to go about that. I can't just let her get her wolf on Monday night and not know what's happening. I'm just not sure how to tell her without making her run away. I decided to start by seeing what she thinks about the supernatural.
"So Rose, what are your thoughts on the supernatural? Ghosts, vampires, fairies... werewolves?" I hesitate just a little at adding the last part.
"I find it super fascinating. As far as if they are real or not, I'm not really sure. My mom always used to say that she could see ghosts and that they were attracted to her. I'm not sure how much I believe her though. I think if they do exist, they do a very good job at hiding from humans though. I've always been super into learning more about legends. It is interesting that so many cultures have similar descriptions of these things," she tells me. With that information, I wonder if I can just tell her.
"What if I told you that werewolves are very much real, and that I am one?" She laughs like I am joking. I just look at her, wanting her to know that I am serious. "I can show you my wolf if you would like. He won't hurt you."
Her eyes grew wide, and she looked like she didn't know what to say, so I decided to just show her. I started to remove my clothes so they don't get ruined, and she blushed and then covered her eyes. She asked what I was doing, but I just responded to watch and see. The transition is quick since I have done it a million times, and I let Eric take over. I told him to calm down since I could sense his excitement at meeting our mate. Eric is big, red and has bright green eyes. When Rose looked over, I saw her eyes widen. However, not in fear, but in excitement. Which made me extremely happy. Eric moved closer and Rose put her hand on his nose. Eric licked her face, at which point I decided that that was enough of a demonstration. When I transitioned back and started to put my clothes on, I noticed Rose's eyes drift down, and saw her blush and then look away when she saw how big my member was. That makes me internally chuckle.
Since she had a decent reaction to that, I decided to take it one step further, and I asked her what she would think if I told her that she's also a werewolf, but different than normal werewolves.
"I mean, I've always felt different, and like I didn't belong anywhere. But my parents are definitely human, and I've never been able to do that, so I'm not sure how that would be possible."
Luckily, I brought the page of the prophecy that mom had, so I showed it to her. When she was done reading it, she looked a bit pale, but she didn't bolt, which I took as a good sign. I jump in to tell her about how most werewolves gain their wolf at 18, but since she's special, it will happen Monday night for her. I told her about werewolf culture and how humans were getting too close to the truth when I was young and the packs had to disband. I answered all of the questions she had, and at the end she seemed to be thinking quite a bit.
"I think I need to go home and think about all of this for a while, I really enjoyed dinner though." She said after we had talked for several hours.
"Okay, I understand that. Will you be available Monday night? I'd like to take you out... And in order for the prophecy to be fulfilled we will need to be together when the moon is at its peak."
"And you'll have to kiss me?" she said hesitantly.
"Yes." I responded simply.
I walked her out to her car so she could leave and just hoped this wouldn't be the last I see of her. As I walk back into the house, I receive a text.
Monday is good. I will see you then. I just have a lot to think about. Thank you for dinner. It was very good.
