David's POV
As I'm walking towards my mom's room, I am baffled. When she opened the door for me and I caught her scent, I could have sworn she was my mate. My wolf Eric agreed. Thankfully, I kept my calm and didn't react too harshly because I don't think she's a werewolf. Her scent is intoxicating, but it's missing the wolf edge to it. I need to talk to mom about this. Hopefully she's having a good day as far as her memory goes, because I'd rather not talk to dad about something like this. She can't actually be my mate though if she's human. Maybe she's a different supernatural? I'm not sure, but something is going on. Eric is running around in my head telling me to go claim her.
As I get to mom's room I knock and open the door.
"Hey Mom! It's me, David."
"Oh, Hi! You must be Liz's son. I'm Carrie. I'm one of the hospice nurses. She talks about you all the time. She just fell asleep. I gave her some morphine for the pain so she might be asleep for a bit. I'm just finishing cleaning up after doing her assessments and doing my documentation, and then I'll be out of your hair so you can spend some time with her when she wakes up. I'm sure she'll be happy to see you. As far as hospice goes, we just come once a day, so if you want to talk with us, you can call, or we can meet here if you arrange a time. Otherwise, the CNA's can answer most of your questions, and there's also a facility nurse that's here during the weekdays." I couldn't get a word in while she talked non-stop. She looks fairly young though. Probably recently graduated from nursing school, so I won't give her a hard time.
"Thank's Carrie. I'm just going to sit and do some work while I wait for her to wake up."

Rose's POV:
Wow. What a weird interaction. I head towards the nurses' station as David walks away.
"Hey Sam, sorry for keeping you for a few minutes. Liz's son was at the front door so I was walking him down. I didn't know she got put on hospice. How was your night?"
"Hey Rose. No worries. It was an uneventful night thankfully. I need an easy start to my week. The full moon is on Monday and lord knows night shift is hell on the full moon. Everything's done for you. Liz was put on hospice yesterday. She's declining rapidly. Earlier, she was telling me WILD ass stories about werewol110ves and some prophecy. Get this, she even said YOU were a special and rare werewolf! Gotta love the dementia stories."
"Wow. That sounds like it was fun to listen to. Maybe I'll get a treat and hear some myself today. Anything else I should know?"
"Nah. Not really. You ready to count me out?"
"Yeah, absolutely. You're probably ready for bed."

"The last one is 19." says Sam.
"Yep. Let's sign this and get you out of here," I say just as someone clears their throat from the other side of the counter. "Sorry we were just finishing this up. Have a good day Sam, see you tomorrow Sam... How can I help you?"
"It's Rose, right?" David asks.
"Yeah. I'm the CNA on this unit today."
"I'm going to leave for now and come back later on today. My mom's sleeping and I have other business to take care of. I was just wondering if you will be here when I return."
"Oh, well that depends. I'm off at 2, so if you're coming back before then, then yeah, I'll be here. If not I believe Jo is coming in after me. She's great and she can help you with anything you need too."
"That's great, but I actually wanted to plan to come back around the time you get off if you'd let me take you to dinner afterward?"
Did he just ask me out? There's no way he just asked me out. He is so out of my league. I can tell that I'm blushing like a tomato right now.
"Oh. Um. You know it's Thanksgiving, right?"
"Of course, my bad. I don't really celebrate, so I sort of forgot. If you have plans already, perhaps I could just get your number so that I can take you out another time?"
Okay, now he's definitely asking me out, right? Unless he's pulling a joke on me. Though, I guess that would be really immature of him, and he is really hot. Why would someone like him be interested in me? I can feel myself getting even redder.
"Oh, uh. I don't really have plans. My kids are with their dad since I had to work today."
"So does that mean you'll let me take you to dinner? Or if you don't feel like going out, I could cook for you at my place. Can I put my number in your phone? You can think on it and let me know a little later if you'd like."
"Oh um, yeah, okay." I pulled out my phone and opened my contacts and hard over my phone to let him put his number in. "Listen, I have to get started with morning Meds. But I'll think about it and text you what I decide. It was nice to meet you."
"I'll see you later Rose."
I spent the next two hours passing meds and completing cares. I finally have time to sit down and do some charting around 9am, until I heard the unit doorbell ring. I go to open the door and there is a delivery guy holding a bag and an iced coffee of some sort.
"Are you Rose?" He asks me.
"Uh, yeah. I didn't order anything though."
"Well, someone ordered something for you. Happy Thanksgiving!"
He hands me the bag and the coffee and walks away. When I peak in the bag it looks like a breakfast sandwich and a hash brown patty. I look at the delivery receipt on the outside of the bag and then I notice in the "Special requests" section is a note that says "This is a bribe to get you to go to dinner with me." I chuckle and shake my head. No one has ever been this interested in me in my entire life. I pull out my phone and go to his contact. I type out a message:
Alright, I'll go to dinner with you. But you have to promise not to murder me. I have two little girls that need me.
I'm about to put my phone back in my pocket but I receive a return text almost immediately.
Haha. I promise not to murder you. I hope you enjoy the coffee and breakfast. Don't work too hard today. I want to plan some other activities and make a real date out of it.
Other activities? What did you have in mind?
*Ding* It's a surprise. We'll have fun and get to know each other.
Fine. Lol. I'll see you later.
