The passing weeks has been a blur.
The lady had been attended to by doctors that now lodged in Cordias' mansion, and they only took care of the lady Ivory, in other to avoid future infections.
Cordias, on the other hand, has been infected with the virus. SURPRISINGLY, the virus had much of a lesser hold on him than on Ivory. The symptoms associated with the virus showed less, although he wasn't allowed to have contact with anyone as he was quarantined in his room.
Medito had been out for official business and in the meantime, the house had been headed by Lady Vanora. Visitors seemed to be scare at that time, so for now, the maids all go a bit of rest.
Ivory, since being diagnosed by Lady Cupid had been quiet and distant. Eerie eyes and a sullen appearance. She was fed and was adding up a bit of weight. Yet, she wouldn't respond to the questions being asked by the doctors. She couldn't even nod for confirmation.
Today, being the 5 weeks after her diagnosis, she was alone in her room.
She was heads-up, facing the ceiling, when she suddenly sat up, leaning on the headrest.
She stares off into the distance and suddenly uttered some words.
"I'm awake."
Hee voice was a bare whisper. She forced her lips to try to voice something else but it seemed not to be working.
She rubbed her eyes. It seemed to her like this was the first day she was awake.
She looked at herself...she didn't even know how to react. She felt she looked like an old hag.
This was the same thing she'd do every morning. She think that's the first day she's waking up, and she'd look at herself. But she would never leave the bed.
She now remembered something.
She overheard the doctors telling one man that she would be fine in the next two weeks, that she is healing fast. She couldn't stop looking at the man.
He looked DIVINE. He had horns.
She hadn't seen anyone like him.
When he noticed she was looking, he turned and looked her in the eye.
"Why the sudden stare?"
All Ivory did that time was to look at her hands while her sparse hair covered her face from view.
He left that day saying that she should be taken care of.
She had not seen him till date.
She looked around the room. The place appeared dull and funky and the dullness affected her. She felt a wave of emotions flow through her body. She wanted to come down for the bed. But before she could do anything else, the door creaked open.
Lady Cupid walked k to the room.
"Good morning Lady Ivory. Did you have a good night's sleep?" Lady Cupid ask, her voice like a bird chirping happily in the morning. Ivory just looked at her.
Cupid stopped walking, but was close to the bed. She looked at Ivory for some time, their eyes locking.
"You still haven't responded to the doctors right? Why give us the silent treatment??" Lady Cupid asked, while she sat on a chair next to the bed, wearing gloves and equipping herself.
She just let out a bit of exasperation in a sigh.
"You'll still talk sooner or later. You can't stay in this room all day yunno.
You'll soon be out, when you heal completely." Lady Cupid said, and Ivory, slowly clutching the sheets couldn't help but nod.
"So... tell me. How did it feel to be out for that long??"
Ivory looked at Cupid in the eye while she made that statement. How did it feel to be out for that long...
She couldn't just find the words to explain it.
"You won't tell me? Well, it's okay-"
"I felt lost and clueless. Tired and worthless. I think I don't belong here. And you called me Ivory...I'm sure that's not my name. I don't know what my name is...I don't know who I am.
And I don't know anyone here too.
I'm not also...sure I know you"
Ivory said, her voice still like a whisper.
Cupid looked at her in surprise.
"You don't know who you are? You don't know that you're Lady Ivory?? You don't know me?" Cupid asked and she only responded with a weak nod.
"That's bad and unexpected. You were not meant to lose your memory." Cupid said, as she uploaded working tools from her bag.
"Who am I then??"
Cupid looked at her.
"You're from a small home, but you became a bit influencial as Mister Cordias took interest in your beauty-" Cupid explained but got interrupted by Ivory.
"Who is Cordias??"
Cupid looked at her shocked.
"You don't remember Cordias?? You mean alot to him."
"What was I to him??" Ivory asked, and Cupid tried to look for the best words to let out her answer.
"He loved you with his life Ivory." Cupid said in a whisper, as she started her medical session on Ivory.
The room was quiet. Cupid looked at Ivory, watching her face and how she processed the information.
Her face had no emotion.
Did she really forget about Cordias?
"Did I ever love him?"
"Yes you did. You both shared the same feelings."
"How did I end up like this??" I got asked again...and Cupid took in a deep breath.
"It's quite complicated and is a mystery...but you suddenly contacted a virus and fell into an almost eternal sleep. We don't really know what caused the sleep but you were asleep for 3 years."
Ivory couldn't help but be surprised. Three years? That's a long time.
"And Mister Cordias spent almost all his resources to bring you back. His only hope of you coming back was that you were still sleeping. If you, you were better off dead. You were detoriating."
Ivory just looked at Cupid.
"We are happy that you're back. Our only problem seems to be that you've lost your memory. But I promise you...I'll nurse you back to health."
Cupid promised,
Ivory slowly digested all this.
"Did you do this because you wanted to bring me back or because it was imposed on you??" Ivory asked and Cupid stopped immediately.
"You knew me before now. We were close. I did this mainly because I wanted you back. So you know what I and the rest of the doctors risked to get the vaccine?"
Cupid said, thinking that Ivory's next statement would be more of an answer.
"I don't love him." Ivory said firmly.
"Huh?" Cupid said, windering where that came from.
"I said I don't love him. I don't feel anything, even my insides." Ivory said.
"Don't say that. If he hears that, he'll be broken. You love him. It's just the time apart that has caused the detachment. The feelings will sprout up later." Cupid said, but Ivory had no time to argue with her.
"I don't love him. That's final." Ivory said, her voice a crack.
Cupid just heaved a sigh.
"Can you walk?" Cupid asked Ivory and she shook her head.
"I need to you come down from the bed...and strip."
As Cupid made this statement, she should swear she could see heat creep up to Ivory's cheek.
It came up for a second. Then it's gone.
Cupid helped her to come down from the bed, but once her feet came in contact with the floor, she fell like a 3month old suckling learning how to walk.
Helping her to get to her feet, she helped her take off her clothes.
Sh watched her oversized night cloth fall to the floor.
Ivory saw her self in the mirror. She really looked like a pile of bones.
She didn't look like a woman.
Ivory's vitals were checked by Cupid. In a normal situation, she was meant to feel flushed. But she didn't feel anything. She didn't even have flesh. What was she trying to hide?
Ivory chuckled lightly at the thought.
Cupid looked her her, wondering what was making her chuckle.
"I'm done. Food will be brought to you very soon. By next week you'll be allowed to move around. Do you need anything?" Cupid asked and Ivory shook her head.
"I understand. Well, I'll be around. Anytime you need someone to talk to, ring that bell next to you. I'll come as soon as I can."
"I need a picture of I and Cordias." Ivory said out if the blue.
"Pardon?
"I said I need a picture of I and Cordias."
"I'll try to get one. I'll be going now." Cupid said and packed up her things. Ivory still stood at the mirror nude, not moving a muscle but staring at her empty reflection.
"I'll only talk to you."
Cupid paused and smiled at Ivory.
"Thank you." Cupid said, and left the room.
Ivory now focused on the mirror, looking at her detoriated, near-to-masculine features. She then felt she had stood enough. She was a out walking away when she saw something.
An image in the mirror. It looked just like her. Frail and hopeless. But those eyes...
She let out an ear shattering scream.
You could now hear shattering glass. She threw a hard object at it and broke it. It then appeared distorted.
The image still remained.
She couldn't sleep that night. Only she knew what the image reminded her of.
