Harriet POV “Stop the car!” I screamed “Go through!” Valtor ordered. Rho went through, since there was no possible way to Chapter 5 Echoes Of Pain and Revenge them other than to either bring the car to a sharp halt, hoping he wouldn't hit them in the process, or go through. But to my surprise, the kids I was underestimating and pitying flew out of the way, their speed, despite their small size, allowing them to avoid the car. Suddenly, masked shellers handling machine guns from each side sprayed heavily at us. The Faceless King ducked his head, mine also went down with his hand on it, as Rho sped away. "You see the reason why I said he should go through, Ember," he declared. "I'm sorry," I murmured, my voice laced with regret. "You need to put your emotions in check," he admonished. "If we had stopped, it would have been very difficult to protect you at the ambush points. I can sense many Shellers hiding, ready to attack," he explained, his frustration clearly evident in his tone. "I am very sorry," I whispered, my words barely audible over the almost deafening silence. "Finally, at last, we have gotten past those Shellers," Rho declared, clearing the awkwardness in the air. "Don't get too comfortable, Rho. Stay alert till we get to our city," the Faceless King cautioned. "Okay, Alpha," Rho responded, concentrating on driving. The rest of the drive was uneventful, as nothing got in our way. Even sleep was trying to force its way over me, but I was still reeling from the events that had transpired. "How is your hand?" I asked, obviously directing the question to Rho, forgetting the fact that in the moment of the Faceless King protecting me, I had sustained an injury on my head, and was bleeding without even knowing it. "I think I can hold out till we get to our destination," Gamma Rho replied. "No, you can't," I countered, as I saw how forcefully he tried to move his hand. "There is a werewolves' specialist hospital ahead," I informed him, a wave of memories washing over me as I recalled coming here with my mistress, who had taken my happiness from me. "Thanks," Rho replied, glancing at me with a hint of gratitude. "You are bleeding on your head," he added, his voice laced with concern. That was when I also got to know the situation I was in - that I was bleeding. "Let me see," the Faceless King requested, turning my head and holding my chin, his touch gentle yet firm. "You are seriously bleeding," Alpha Valtor asked, his voice filled with deep concern. "But why didn't you tell me this happened after the incident at the ambush point? Huh?" he added, a hint of frustration creeping into his tone. "I am sorry. I was not even aware of it," I replied, feeling a sense of regret wash over me. "We are making an emergency stop at the Werewolves' specialist hospital ahead, Rho," Valtor declared to him. "No problem, boss," Rho replied, his voice calm and collected. "You know you don't need to worry about me. It's Rho who needs that worry," I replied, trying to downplay my own injury as I hardly felt any pain coming from it. "I guess you don't know how much you are bleeding because you are not intensely feeling pain," Valtor replied, his words laced with a sense of warning. As he spoke, I suddenly started to feel dizzy. My eyes threatened to close on their own accord as I tried to keep them open, my vision blurring at the edges. As I couldn't help but notice the blood slipping into my clothes from my head. Valtor was trying to say something to me, but I could barely hear him, his words muffled and distant. Slowly and slowly, I blacked out completely. Faceless King's POV Problem upon problem is what I have been facing since the time I came to the Firepack. Is it that they are cursed or something? I thought to myself, a sense of frustration and concern washing over me. Right now, the only good thing that has come out of the Firepack is about to slip away into the land of the unknown, the land of the dead. There is no way I will be allowing that, not now, not never. I need to get her to live, to see if maybe she can illuminate the darkness of my heart. The darkness that even has hidden plans for her that she will not willingly accept except through force. I felt a surge of determination course through my veins as I gazed at her limp form, my mind racing with thoughts of how to save her. I would do whatever it takes, no matter the cost, to keep her safe and alive. Rho brought the car to a sharp halt as I carried her and rushed into the hospital, where the nurses quickly responded with a stretcher. It was currently 7:00 am in the morning, and I was very sure they were not expecting such a critical situation so early. "Get your hand treated," I declared to Rho as I followed the nurses as they took her to the ICU. "I will get the doctor," one of the nurses declared. "The best of the best doctor around. Price is not an issue," I replied, my voice firm and urgent. "Yes, sir," she replied, before hurrying away. Not quite long after, the doctor, who appeared to be someone over 45 years old, arrived. "Have you stopped the bleeding?" was the first thing he asked one of the nurses around. "Yes," she replied, as Ember was already taken into the ICU room, while I stood outside. "Please, Doc, make sure you do everything so that she survives," I replied, feeling a sense of desperation wash over me, as I had never been this worried in my life. "Don't worry, everything will be alright," he replied, before getting into the room. I sat down, waiting anxiously for whatever they were going to do to her. The doctor walked out, and I stood up, my eyes fixed on him. "She is just suffering from loss of blood," He explained, his voice calm and professional. "The broken glass that clashed with her head did not really do much damage, and that has been taken care of," he added, his eyes meeting mine as he spoke. I recalled the scene in the car, where I had checked her and didn't see any glass. It seemed that the doctor must have found particles of the glass, which had likely been embedded in her wound. "So, as it stands now, we are currently busy testing her blood," he continued, "and once that is determined, she will be just fine after we find the best matching werewolf blood for her," he replied, his words a mix of reassurance and caution, as he sought to alleviate my concerns while also emphasizing the importance of the treatment. One hour later, after her blood had been tested and they had found the best werewolf blood to match hers. The doctor came to me and said. "She is currently sleeping. Once she wakes up, you are free to leave with her," He declared, a hint of a smile on his face. "That's good to hear, doc," Rho replied, his voice filled with relief, as he was now successfully treated as the doctor left. "Now, I am ready to hear what the doctor told you about the poison," I said, my eyes narrowing slightly as I turned to Rho "Why can it kill a werewolf despite our healing ability? What kind of poison is it coated with?" I asked, my voice low and urgent, my mind racing with the implications of such a powerful poison. "The Doctor said the poison was created from the Wolfsbane flower," he replied and continued. "A dangerous flower that poses a significant threat to the life of a werewolf." I leaned in why sitting, my curiosity piqued, and asked, "So, how was the doctor able to treat it?" He responded, "He was able to treat it using a rare plant, the Silverleaf." According to what he said, the doctor had once lost a patient who was rushed to the hospital with Wolfsbane poisoning, which prompted him to conduct research and discover the Silverleaf. "I see," I replied, nodding thoughtfully. "So King, be expecting a high hospital bill?" He chuckled and joked, knowing full well that if it was the rarest among the rare, I could still afford it. "Continue playing," I replied, waving my hand dismissively. He declared, a smile on his face, "Anyway, I already paid the bills for both me and Ember, with extra for any other expenses." I raised an eyebrow, clearly annoyed but also half-joking, and replied, "You got a death wish or something?" "Where did I go wrong?" He asked, smiling in the process. "If you want to show off that your small money, don't show it off to anger me," I responded, knowing that he is rich, but compared to me, he is just starting his journey of wealth. "I am still not getting it, getting why I caused you to get angry?" He inquired, his tone laced with curiosity. "I want to be able to tell Ember those romantic words, like 'I was by your side when you were down,'" I said, a hint of playfulness in my voice. And she will be like, "What about the bill? We need to pay the hospital bill?" I added, trying to mimic her voice. "And I will be like, 'Don't worry, I already cleared the bill.' Then we will hug and kiss," I murmured, my tone filled with amusement, as my gamma is already laughing hard. "Hope I am safe?" I asked, my eyes narrowing slightly. "Your back," He declared. I turned to my back immediately to see.…….
