“Let’s go ice skating!”
“What? I’ve never ice skated before in my life.” I turn to Su with a look of dread. The early December weather has turned cold, probably why she came up with the idea.
“Oh, come on. You never water-skied either, but you did pretty well at that.”
“I don’t know. At least if you fall in the water it’s soft. With my luck I’ll probably fall and break my ankle. Then it’s bye-bye basketball.”
“Don’t be such a chicken. That’s not going to happen. I’ll help you keep your balance.”
“Oh, right, that’s going to look cool. I rely on my girlfriend to stay up.”
“Don’t worry about it. People will just think we’re in love, skating arm in arm.”
I shake my head slowly. “I don’t know if I’m up for it. I’m going to look stupid.”
