I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see a school year end. “Just a few more weeks and we’re free,” I say to Su one day in early June. “I can’t wait for summer.” “What do you have planned, besides basketball?” “Just kickin’ back. I’m going to sleep late, get my driver’s license, and play ball with our team in Bridgeport.” “When does summer league start?” “In another week. Sometimes we have two games a week. Summer league is a blast. It’s so much fun without coaches—as much as I love Coach Ant—and running the team ourselves. There’s no pressure. “I wish we had that. Too bad there aren’t any summer leagues around here for girls. It would build team spirit.” Su c***s her head thoughtfully. “Though I don’t know how much I’d be able to play in one anyway. We’ll be up in New Hampshire
