Piper and Max worked tirelessly to implement their plan to protect the hotel's finances and prevent the sabotage. They increased security, changed the passwords to the financial systems, and alerted the staff to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity. As the night wore on, Piper found herself growing more and more exhausted. She had been running on adrenaline for hours, but now her energy was starting to flag. Max noticed her yawning and suggested they take a break. "Let's get some fresh air," he said, leading her out onto the hotel's patio. The cool night air was refreshing, and Piper felt her eyes starting to droop. Max noticed and smiled. "You're tired," he said. "I'll walk you back to your room." Piper nodded gratefully, and they set off across the hotel's lobby. As they walked, Max told her more about the hotel's history and his plans for its future. Piper listened, entranced, feeling a deep connection to Max and the hotel. She realized that she had fallen deeply in love with both. As they reached her room, Max turned to her and smiled. "Thank you for your help tonight, Piper," he said. "I don't know what I would have done without you." Piper's heart skipped a beat as she looked up at him. As she gets ready for bed, Piper can't shake off the feeling that she's missed an opportunity. She wonders what would have happened if she had kissed Max. Just as she's drifting off to sleep, Piper's phone buzzes. It's a text message from an unknown number. "Meet me in the hotel's garden at midnight," the message reads. "Come alone." Piper's heart skips a beat. Who could be sending her mysterious messages? Piper's curiosity gets the better of her, and she decides to sneak out to the garden at midnight. She tries to go back to sleep, but her mind is racing with possibilities. At midnight, Piper quietly slips out of her room and makes her way to the garden. The moon is full, casting a silver glow over the flowers and trees. As she walks through the garden, Piper notices a figure waiting for her in the shadows. It's a woman with long, curly hair and a kind smile. "Who are you?" Piper asks, feeling a sense of trepidation. "My name is Lily," the woman replies. "I'm a friend of Max's. We've been friends since childhood." Piper's curiosity is piqued. "What do you want to talk to me about?" she asks. Lily hesitates before speaking. "I want to warn you about Max's family," she says. "They're not what they seem." Piper's eyes widen in surprise. What could Lily possibly mean? "How do you know Max?" she asks. Lily smiles wistfully. "Max and I grew up together," she says. "Our families have been friends for years. We were inseparable as kids." Piper's eyes narrow slightly. "Were you two ever romantically involved?" she asks, trying to sound casual. Lily laughs. "No, nothing like that," she says. "Max is like a brother to me. I'm just looking out for him because I care about him deeply." Piper feels a wave of relief wash over her. She's glad to hear that Lily and Max's relationship is platonic. "But what about his family?" Piper asks, remembering Lily's warning earlier. Lily's expression turns serious. "Max's family is complicated," she says. "They're hiding secrets, Piper. Secrets that could ruin the hotel's reputation and hurt Max deeply." Piper's eyes widen in alarm. What secrets could Max's family be hiding Piper thanks Lily for her warning and decides to leave. She's not sure what to make of Lily's claims, but she's determined to get to the bottom of things. As she walks back to her room, Piper can't shake off the feeling that something is off. She wonders if Lily is telling the truth or if she's just trying to stir up trouble. When she gets back to her room, Piper decides to do some research on Max's family. She starts by searching online, but she doesn't find anything suspicious. Just as she's about to give up, Piper receives a call from an unknown number. It's a woman with a stern voice. "Piper, I hear you've been asking questions about Max's family," the woman says. "I advise you to stop digging. You don't want to know what you might find." Piper's heart skips a beat. Who is this woman, and what is she hiding? Piper decides to tell Max about the phone call. She finds him in his office, working on some papers. "Max, I need to tell you something," Piper says, trying to sound calm. Max looks up, concerned. "What is it?" he asks. Piper explains the phone call, and Max's expression darkens. "I don't know who that woman is, but I'll find out," Max says, his voice firm. Piper feels a surge of relief. She's glad that Max is taking the situation seriously. Just then, Sophia bursts into the room. "Piper, I need your help!" she exclaims. "The wedding decorations are all wrong!" Piper sighs, feeling overwhelmed. She's not sure how much more drama she can handle. Piper decides to investigate the mysterious phone call with Max. They start by trying to trace the caller's number, but it's blocked. Undeterred, Max suggests they pay a visit to his family's estate to see if they can uncover any information. Piper agrees, and they set off. As they arrive at the estate, Piper is struck by its grandeur. Max's family is clearly wealthy, but Piper senses that there's more to their story. Inside, they meet Max's mother, Catherine. She's elegant and poised, but Piper detects a hint of nervousness beneath her polished exterior. Max asks his mother about the phone call, but she denies any knowledge. Piper isn't convinced, but she can't quite put her finger on why. As they prepare to leave, Piper notices a suspicious-looking letter on Catherine's desk. It's addressed to Max, but the return address is a law firm. Piper's curiosity is piqued.
