Maya and Dustin sat in the back of the SUV while her parents sat in the front. The very back was full of luggage, and it rattled as they drove along the highway. Maya was curled up against Dustin, asleep. She wasn't kidding when she said she was a cranky travel companion. She hated long car rides because they made her sick. She took some medicine for nausea before they left, but it made her drowsy. Within thirty minutes of leaving the pack, she was asleep. Dustin used that time to get some work done.
