Josh woke up at sunrise and dressed for the day. He pulled his hair up in a bun and threw on a black tee and basketball shorts. Then, he went down to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee. Today was his day to make breakfast, and it made him sad that Maya wasn’t there to spend the morning with him. He enjoyed relaxing with her first thing in the morning. Some days, they were so busy that morning, and bedtime was all they had together. Josh sipped his coffee and checked his email. He was surprised to see one from Chase.
‘Hey, I just wanted to let you know Maya is at my place. She’s safe but seems really sad. She didn’t want to talk about what’s going on. Don’t tell her I snitched about where she went, but I didn’t want you to worry. Candy is going to take her shopping after school tomorrow.
