CHAPTER ELEVEN - CHARITY CASE You always see them, but really, they don't register. Frankly, there are too many, and there is so much else going on in the city streets, why bother to care. But I generally take a second look. Hell, I did my time with them here and there. Walked around strung-out shoeless on these city streets, smoked the crack while crashing in that Mission District abandoned building, lived in the car as a lost tweeking young soul. So yeah I can relate. In this city of San Francisco they are like a huge percentage of the population, a f*****g voting bloc, a political faction.
