Shui stood by while Liao and the woman, in that order, preceded him into the forest where Liao had seen the tiger trail earlier. While Shui was clearly the leader in all respects of this outing, the actual details of the hunt he left to Liao. It was the younger man, after all, who would do the actual work, and it must of necessity be the younger man who executed the task at hand. To have matters settled in any other fashion would distract from Shui’s intended purpose, which was to better prepare Liao for the second half of the Tournament.
