Chapter 5
Liao waited quietly in the antechamber for the examination of Cheng’s Dao to conclude, silently meditating and mentally walking through his movements. It was during this time that Shui entered the private chamber.
Normally, warriors were to be left alone during these waiting periods, but because of his rank and status in the Empire, Shui was able to enter the room.
Shui had faced Cheng several times in the past, including defeating him for his last Champion Standing match. It was a closely fought match, and Shui had barely beaten the determined young warrior. He believed that had the match gone another round, the tenacious Cheng might have bested him. Even so, he had learned a few things about the young warrior’s fighting style that might prove useful to his young protégé.
