I looked up and it was the new kid, Chris. He was wearing khaki pants and a white jacket. I just realized how beautiful his eyes were, deep ocean green color. His hair was styled in windswept.
"Thanks for helping," He smiled as the both of us stacked all the books that fell on the floor.
"No worries, you didn't get hurt, did you?" I asked our of concern.
"No, I'm fine. Thanks, again," he smiled.
"It's alright. What are you doing here, anyway?" I asked.
"One of my projects is due tomorrow and I am still looking for a book to support my topic but I can't seem to find one," he said.
"Maybe I can help," I said as I got up from the floor and Chris put the stacks of books on an empty table, "you see, I come here often so I might know where to look."
I looked around for the book he needed and I found every book except the one he could use. Finally, I spotted a book that he might find useful. I walked up behind him and tapped his shoulder. he turned around and his eyes sparkled with a light that was coming from the ceiling.
"Oh, you scared the crap out of me," he said placing his hand on his heart.
"Sorry," I chuckled and handed out the book that he was looking for.
"Oh god, thanks. where'd you find it?" He asked and a smile appeared on his face.
"Right here," I pointed at the shelf right beside the shelf he was searching at.
"What? I swear I looked there..." he looked a bit confused, "Anyways, thank you so much!"
"Don't mention it," I smiled.
"Well I must go, I have to finish this by tonight, see you in school?" he said and smiled.
As much as I hated being girly and admitting it, his smile was kind of cute. He had dimples on both of his cheeks that appeared when he smiled.
"Yup, see you in school," I said.
He walked out and I went back to the table where all the books that I picked out were scattered. I picked up a few copies that I would read and checked them out at the register.
After I was done with putting back the books I didn't check out, I started searching for Jade. she wondered off somewhere looking for a stronger wifi connection. I looked around and finally spotted her sitting on a table, typing away on her laptop.
"Jade, we should head home," I said and she looked at me for a split second before turning her eyes back on the laptop screen.
"Alright let's go, I will finish the rest at home," she said closing the lid of her laptop.
"But the monsters?" I asked referring to her nephews and nieces.
"They probably left by now," she smiled.
We arrived at my driveway after 10 mins of driving. We stayed seated in the car which felt too warm to leave.
"It's almost evening, wanna grab dinner from a nearby restaurant? I'm starving," Jade said.
"When it comes to food, I say 'YOLO,'" I said enthusiastically.
"Learn how to use the slang first," Jade shot.
"Whatever," I rolled my eyes at her, "your treat."
"Stay hungry," she said before turning around to face the window.
"Oh C'mon, you know you wanna buy your best friend some food because you love her so much," I smiled and she looked at me.
"Ask your boyfriend to buy you some," Jade made herself laugh.
"Oh god, who are you talking about?" I asked, suddenly regretting my question.
"You know, the new kid. Chris."
"End of the conversation.. now!" I shouted at her with a shocked face.
Jade had this habit of exaggerating everything to make my life seem more dramatic than it ever was.
As I sat there with crossed arms, she continued laughing and my face turned red with anger.
