Chapter 9

634 Words
(Desire) I wake up in Jacari's bed alone. I look around for a clock or something. I finally spot one and immediately dive out of the bed. It's 1:07pm. I'm extra late for school. I thought Jacari would've at least woke me up in time to take me home so I could get ready for school. I find my way around the house in search for Jacari. I find him in the kitchen. I stop in my tracks. I should be ashamed of myself right now. But I can't help but stare at Jacari as he stands there shirtless standing over a pot stirring something. The boy is in shape. He looks good. God I should be ashamed of myself. I stare at the tattoos on his back. I'm not close enough to see them clearly. "You like what you see?" I jump and become extremely embarrassed. He caught me staring at him. I ignore his question. "Why didn't you wake me up in time for school?" I ask. "You were sleeping so peacefully ... I would've have felt right waking you up" he says. I did sleep pretty good. I guess that's because I wasn't in fear. ******************************************************************************************************************** "Sit down so you can eat something." He says. I sit down at the table. He puts a plate in front of me then starts filling it with food. When he's done he sits down across from me without a plate. "You're not gonna eat?" I ask. "I already ate" he says. "Oh" I say. I pick up my spoon and fill it with grits. I hesitate as I shove the grits in my mouth. They're actually pretty good. Who knew he could actually cook? Well, he does live by his self so he's gotta eat some way. "You still could've woke me up" I say to bring some kind of conversation on. "Desire you miss like a day out of every week. . This won't hurt nothing and besides I wanna take you somewhere" he says. "Where?" I ask. "I don't wanna say it's a surprise but it's not that type of moment but I don't wanna tell you about it till we get there" he says. "Well, I might as well go since I missed school .. I gotta pass the time some way." "You finish eating. I'm about to go get ready then I will take you to your house to change." He says then leaves the kitchen. That could be a really big problem for me. I don't know what Dennis does during the day while I'm at school. He could be sitting there waiting for me since I didn't show up last night. Jacari comes down the stairs about 30 minutes later. He's not really dressed up. Just some sweats and a hoodie from what I can see. He' dressed like I always am. Good for me I won't have to try to look presentable. "Let's go" he says. I follow him out to his car and we get on the road right away. All I can do is hope and pray Dennis isn't there as we near the house. As Jacari pulls up to my house I see that my mom's car is still gone. She probably hasn't made it back from her little trip. When the car comes to a complete stop I just stare at the house undecided. I don't know if I should invite Jacari in or let him wait in the car. If Dennis is really in there waiting for me I don't want to take the chance. But I don't want to leave him just sitting out here either. "You can come in if you want to" I say as I open the car door. I guess ima just have to take whatever happens.
