Ellis' Point Of View:
“It's me,” I screamed out immediately when I heard Patrick's voice. I had seen Olivia eavesdropping from a distance, and I knew it would be the end of her if she was caught. Thankfully, I arrived at the right time.
“What are you waiting for? Come inside.” Patrick said to me. I turned to Olivia and winked at her.
“Leave silently,” I whispered into her ears and watched her walk away.
“I have executed your orders, the cartels are ready to ship,” I said to them, and a sigh of relief escaped every one of them.
I particularly didn't like the errands I ran for Patrick, it was very illegal and life-threatening. But did I have any other choice? Patrick was my older step-brother, who had taken me in ever since my mother's sudden death. He treated me nicely until I noticed he was into illegal businesses, after which he forcefully demanded I join hands with him in the business.
“Alright, that's great to hear,” Patrick muttered, and a smile was written on all of their faces.
I watched quietly as the meeting went on, chatting and drinking cheerfully until the meeting was finally disbanded. I couldn't wait to get home and sleep, it was a long day.
Olivia's Point Of View:
I would probably be dead if not for Ellis' sudden appearance. I couldn't stop thinking if he was the angel sent from the heavens to me.
I sat by the window of a strange room which had suddenly turned into mine overnight, trying to patch things up. How did I even get myself into this? I never expected that I would spend the rest of my life with a criminal. It had begun to become dark, indistinct mutters in the compound caught my attention and I immediately stretched my neck to get a view, it was the men, they were done with their meeting.
Each one of them wore a happy expression and was beaming with smiles and ecstasy. Wait, someone was missing, Lilian.
Where was she? The sudden disappearance of Lilian aroused my interest as I stood up to get a proper view. I had seen her in the underground house, how come she wasn't there?
“What are you doing over there?” A cold voice was shot right into my ears, and I immediately turned around to take a look, which caused my eyes to widen. I made a mistake, it wasn't just one person that was missing, there were two, and the second was here, staring deadly at me, while I shook in fear.
“No…Nothing.” I stammered. He panted heavily and stormed closer to me, grabbed my wrist, and squeezed it tightly. The pain I felt from him squeezing my wrist was nothing compared to the agony he fired at me with his bloodshot red eyeballs.
“I advise you to keep your eyes and mouth shut, I must not hear anything regarding those men.” He yelled and called out a name that sounded like Patricia.
The same girl he had kissed at our wedding reception walked in, eyeing me with disgust and contempt.
“I will be spending the night with her, and I will not like to be disturbed, understood!” He thundered, and I muttered a “yes”. Like I also wanted to be around him?
That night was a terrible one, I had to use my earphones as their moans filled the whole house.
SOMEWHERE IN CALIFORNIA
Chief Douglas’ Point Of View:
Three men sat round the center table while I had a smirk on my face, staring at each man who seemed troubled by the documents in their hands. I could feel their hearts beating fiercely out of their chests, and sweat gushing out of their faces showed how extremely nervous they were.
They were debtors who had signed an undisclosed agreement when the money was loaned to them. The grief on their faces right now made me happy, they never expected that the condition was a very solid one. Seventy percent of their assets must be transferred to me, and they had all printed their signatures on it.
“Sir…” One of the men gathered the audacity to talk but the door creaking sent the words back to his mouth.
A hefty man walked in, he had a thick mustache and a bushy beards. He was my assistant, Athena.
He walked towards me and whispered some words into my ears which made my eyes open wide.
“What? Are you sure?” I asked him almost immediately. He simply nodded to clear my doubts.
“Patrick Brown! After scamming me years back and ruining my business, he thinks he can go Scot-free and enjoy all of my riches?” I mumbled to myself while I let out a bitter laugh.
“Gather the men! We are leaving for New York City first thing tomorrow morning.” I ordered Athena, who bowed and walked out to execute my orders.
I stood up and also made to leave the room, but I stopped abruptly by the door;
“The assets must be willed to me in the next twenty-four hours.” I fired at them and stormed out. I did not particularly care about their feelings or how hurt they were. It wasn't my fault, I wasn't like this before, it was someone that turned me in
to this, that damn Patrick Brown, and I was going for him.
