Chapter 3 Major Clue

When William returned to work the next day, he wanted to ask Jimmy where he found the short video yesterday.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he arrived at the hospital, Jimmy approached him immediately as if he wanted to see the former make a fool out of himself. “William,” he asked loudly. “Have you investigated the matter clearly? Did Wanda really do that?”

“I took a closer look after I went back yesterday. I’m very sure that she’s not the woman in the video. She also went shopping with her best friend last weekend, so she wouldn’t have time to cheat on me,” William replied in a casual and relaxed manner.

He knew that Jimmy wanted to watch him getting humiliated. The latter wanted nothing more than to watch William being cuckolded by his own wife. That was why even if Wanda ended up cheating on him, he would never tell Jimmy the truth.

“That’s what I said! Wanda loves you so much, so how could she have cheated on you? Though I must ask, what was her reaction when you showed the video to her?” Jimmy was very interested in juicy gossip like this, so he kept pressing on unrelentingly.

“There was no need for her to be afraid since she never did anything wrong in the first place. Her reaction was very calm, and she also produced evidence to prove that she wasn’t the woman in the video. All right then, Jimmy. This matter is already settled, so don’t mention it again in future. Also, don’t send the video to others. I don’t want to cause a misunderstanding,” William said indifferently after shooting a cold glance in Jimmy’s direction.

“I deleted the video after I sent it to you to avoid affecting you negatively, so you don’t have to worry about me sending it to others.”

“Good. You may carry on with your business.” William nodded lightly. He no longer wished to converse with Jimmy, but he changed his mind by the time Jimmy was about to leave. “By the way, Jimmy, who sent yesterday’s video to you?”

“Well, I saw it in another w******p group, and I didn’t think much about it at that time. I simply sent the video to you because I noticed that the woman resembled Wanda a lot. In fact, the video circulated wildly in the w******p group because it was said that the male protagonist is also from Yorksville. He lost his job after the video was circulated online,” Jimmy said casually as he turned around and looked at William.

“He’s from our city? Which part?” William subconsciously asked, his heart already skipping a beat.

Yorksville was so big, yet he had never seen a woman who resembled Wanda so much in all of his years of living there. If that man was really from Yorksville, then the possibility of his wife being the woman in the video was astronomically high.

“I’m not sure. I didn’t investigate this matter seriously. You should be able to find this information yourself on the internet.”

William nodded. He pretended to relax as much as he could as he replied, “Okay, I was just asking. Don’t think too much.”

After watching Jimmy leave, William turned on the computer and started searching the internet immediately before any patients came.

It wasn’t just a casual question from his side. He wanted to investigate the matter seriously. He felt that the investigation was necessary if the video really came from Yorksville.

His research did not disappoint him. Soon, he found the information of the male protagonist on the internet.

Zico Zellenski, an employee of the Human Resources Department in the Ministry of Education, was dismissed three days ago by the Ministry of Education for his improper conduct.

This was a major clue for William.

The information made it easier for William to continue his investigation. He would simply have to find the man in the video directly and ask him what was going on. After that, he could ask the man to confirm whether the woman in the video was truly Wanda.

Of course, this was based on the premise that Zico would be willing to cooperate.

William did not have a moment of peace ever since he saw the short video yesterday afternoon until now.

After confirming that Zico was most likely to be the cheating adulterer, William started investigating, hoping that he could find the former’s contact information.

However, it was already office hours. Before William could take any action, the patients began coming in one after another. As a result, he had no time to look into his private investigation.

The season was in the midst of transitioning from spring to summer, so it was the time when various skin diseases would break out. There was an endless stream of patients who came to the hospital and there was also a long queue outside.

After seeing patients for two hours, William was slightly tired from the workload. After requesting the nurse to pause the queue number, he quickly took the opportunity to go to the washroom for a breather.

Unexpectedly, when he came to the corridor, he bumped into Wanda’s best friend, Kylie.

She was holding a laboratory test report in her hand. Her head was lowered as she stared at the report while walking. She looked incredibly tense and grim. Because of that, she didn’t notice William coming in her direction.

William was very surprised to see her here. He wondered why Kylie didn’t seek him out as her doctor when she had already visited his department.

He thought of his wife’s possible affair and how he could seize this opportunity to ask if Kylie had indeed accompanied Wanda to go shopping during the past weekend. Furthermore, it was also necessary for him to clarify the matter relating to the bite mark on Wanda’s chest.

However, even with those intentions in mind, William did not call out to Kylie. Instead, he tried to peek at her report.

The font on the report was very small. William didn’t expect that the first word he would see was ‘syphilis.’

Just when he was about to take a clearer look, Kylie sensed something, prompting her to raise her head immediately.

The moment their eyes met, William could feel Kylie’s surprise radiating off her form. Moreover, a trace of fear flashed in her eyes as though she did not expect to bump into him there.

“Kylie, I thought we were close. Why didn’t you come to see me if you’re here at the Dermatology Department? If Wanda were to find out about this, she’ll think that I’m being inhospitable. Are you unwell? Why don’t you show me your test report?” William said enthusiastically as he pretended to be concerned.

“N-No, thank you! There’s no need for that. I only had red rashes erupting across my skin lately. I did poke around for a while when I first came here, but I couldn’t find you, so I ended up choosing a random doctor. It’s not a big problem. The doctor said that it’s just a mild case of eczema. There’s no need to trouble you,” Kylie replied, panic evident in her tone. She was extremely flustered as well.

“Oh, that’s great. You can come back here if the rashes don’t go away in a couple of days. I’ll give you a proper examination by then.”

Kylie was in the Dermatology Department, after all. As long as she was examined in that particular department, William would always have a way to investigate the truth. Since Kylie refused to let him see the report, he did not continue asking more questions about her condition.

“Well then, I still have something that I need to do, so I’ll be taking my leave. The chemical smell in this hospital is very unpleasant.” Kylie covered her nose and put on a show of wanting to leave. After all, she felt extremely uncomfortable when she was facing William’s heated gaze.

“Wait! There’s something that I want to ask you. Wanda has a bite mark on her arm. She said that you were the one who bit her jokingly.”

Those words had hidden motives. It was clear that William had deliberately set up a trap for Kylie.

The reason why he asked this question was mainly to find out if Wanda was lying. If Kylie really was the one who bit her, then she would definitely correct him and say that she bit Wanda on her chest.

Kylie was stunned for a moment, not understanding why William would ask her that question of all things. She simply replied apologetically, “We’re best friends, so we joke around a lot by playing games like this. Don’t think too much about it.”

After that, she waved at William and left in a panicked state.

As he watched Kylie’s retreating back, William’s expression was incredibly grim.

Originally, he was just suspecting that Wanda had cheated on him, but now, he was basically convinced that she had done so. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have any reason to deceive him at all.

His mood plunged rapidly, making him extremely irritated. The thought of Wanda sleeping with other men made William lose control of himself. He wanted nothing more than to expose her lies right now.

However, after thinking it through over and over again, he chose not to act impulsively. He was only certain that Wanda was lying, but he did not have any actual evidence of her cheating on him.

She would never admit to having done the deed without any evidence.

William gritted his teeth, thinking that it was necessary to investigate Kylie’s condition. As long as he could get a handle on her, then it shouldn’t be too big a problem to get the evidence out of her judging from how close she was to Wanda.

Therefore, William asked a few of his dermatology colleagues about what was going on during his lunch break.

Kylie was indeed infected with syphilis. Based on the answers William had received, it seemed that another person had passed it to her.

Of course, this involved the patient’s privacy, so the attending doctor did not probe Kylie for a lot of details. However, that doctor was very sure that she was only recently infected with syphilis.

Kylie’s husband was an honest man. As far as William knew, he would never have had s*x with other women. Thus, it was impossible for him to contract syphilis from external sources.

This meant that someone else probably infected Kylie with syphilis. She most likely cheated on her husband as well.

As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together.

William was only suspecting Wanda’s infidelity, but he accidentally discovered that Kylie was also cheating on her husband as well. This made William wonder if they had both cheated with the same man.

As of now, his wife did not show any signs of syphilis infection. After all, they did have s*x last night.
