The rain was splattering hard on the ground. There were insects buzzing round and my head kept turning in confusion. Caught up in this place for the past few days, I raised my head to the sky and broke into tears.
My heart was pounding against my chest and in confusion, I kept going, running through the forest. The hips of bushes and trees scratched my skin and I couldn’t stop to check how bad the damage was. Anger cursed through my body as the thought of my husband and what he had caused tonight spanned through my mind.
