Liam POV
There were only six of them, but they came with serious confidence. Even I had to be impressed by that. No one came into my territory with confidence.
This time we stopped them at the border. Maybe i was being sexist, maybe it was because there was more of them, who knows. But i didn't like the idea of them crossing into my land.
I recognized the wolf leading the group. Alpha Warrens beta from the bloodstone pack. I waited to speak until he had shifted back to his human form.
“What's your purpose trying to force entry into Silver moon territory, beta Trey?” I said aggressively, my deep voice echoing around us. I felt angrier than the situation warranted.
“Alpha, we mean no harm. We just need to get back an escapee that belongs to us.” he looked pointedly at my arms.
With a shock I realized I was still holding the woman. It felt so easy and natural for her to be in my arms. The shock faded quickly and i felt again, that irrational anger. Who was he to take her? What did they want with her?
“On what grounds does she belong to you, beta?” I snarled.
He took a step back. “She is to be our prisoner alpha. She...well, she attacked four high ranking members of our pack and then fled. We have chased her all the way here. She needs to face trial and consequences for her actions”
I was stunned. Not only did she face off against four wolves, seemingly by herself, but they were also high ranking. That takes some incredible power. I looked down at her face again. Peaceful in her sleep and felt something form in the pit of my stomach. I didn't know why but i knew then I didn't want her to go with these men.
“No.” I said, still gazing at her.
“W-what?”
I looked up then, at beta Trey. “I said no. She broke into MY pack lands, which makes her my prisoner, actually.”
Anger flashed across his face, “Do you have any idea what she's done? She attacked our alpha. Shes ours!” he took a step towards me aggressively.
My warriors reacted automatically, stepping forward and crouching. Fury overwhelmed me, but i stood frozen, unable to react with the girl in my arms. This seemed to bring him back to his senses. He glanced back at the five warriors he had with him and then brought his attention back to us.
“I see. Keep her for now then. Be warned that she WILL face consequences for her actions at bloodstone. You cant keep her forever”
Who does this guy think he is? I am the strongest alpha. Hes just a weak f*****g beta. “is that a threat??” i spat, full alpha authority ringing in my voice
He immediately became submissive. He looked around at my warriors and then at me. “Of course not, alpha. I apologize. We will be returning to our pack now. You know how to reach us if you decide she's not worth the risk of keeping around.” and with that he turned around and ran full speed, his warriors following.
I grinned. I’d love to see him try and attack us. Give us some entertainment while we rip all their heads off. I laughed aloud at the though.
“Alpha?” I heard Jordan ask. “What are your orders?”
“Continue the patrol. Don’t let those scum in. Ill be taking our new prisoner to the dungeons.”
“Really alpha? The dungeons? Maybe we could lock her in a room in the packhouse? At least until shes recovered” Mason looked pitifully at the girl.
“She went against an alpha and survived, Mason. We don’t know what shes capable of. She stays in the dungeon. Send Dr. Heck to go and have a look at her when he can”
“Yes alpha.” Mason said, and together we ran in our human forms to the dungeons.
I was trying to only breathe through my mouth because the scent of the male wolves blood on her was really starting to irk me. But when we arrived at the dungeons, I took a deep breath through my nose as I needed to be alert for any danger.
Again, I smelt that faint, delicious lavender scent under the blood. I breathed in deeper, trying to get more. This time, I caught a whiff of something different. The tempting smell of rosewater filled my nostrils. Before I could get too lost in the scent, a dark undertone filled me. It was unlike anything I had experienced from a scent and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
What the f**k?? It must have something to do with the male wolf's blood she has on her, mixing with her scent. I didn't like that thought either. Ignoring these thoughts, and resuming breathing through my nose, I started my descent into the dungeons.
My wolf, Rakin, who had been unusually quiet up until that point, snarled.
‘Whats wrong with you?’ i asked him.
‘I don't like this. I like Masons idea. Lets keep her in the packhouse!’
‘What?? Whats gotten into you? Like I already said, she's an unknown variable. We have to keep our pack safe first and foremost.’
‘She isn't going to hurt anyone’, he said confidently.
‘How could you possibly know that??’ I was getting frustrated now. ‘Dude, just shut up. This isn't a debate’. I pushed him back from my mind.
I found an empty cell and chained her up with the silver chains we used for every prisoner. I stepped back to make sure I had secured her well enough, and my heart dropped at the sight. Again, her beauty took my breath away. Emotions I didn't understand filled my mind and body. For how long i stood there, staring at her. I don't know, but finally I walked over and undid her chains before walking out, locking the cell behind me.
