Edward Returns
THE DUO ARRIVED at the site of the old Fort Sumter and tried to remember the location of their tent six years earlier. Roads had sprouted up in the intervening years, which made pinpointing the exact spot where the two men resided a difficult task. The sense of Weeksville as a town resting on a hilltop was nothing more than a memory—Edward Heath and Mackie Johnson barely recognized a thing. New roads dissected the land, connecting numerous properties and structures, which hadn’t existed a few short years earlier. The most impressive aspect of the change, however, appeared to be a general consensus that this was only the beginning.
