Chapter 39 Awaiting the News VENT WRAPPED HIS scarf around his neck and jogged in place to stay warm. The dramatic drop in temperature over the past few days had generated a chill deep in Vent’s bones. The last bit of heat from the sun had faded thirty minutes ago, but he planned to wait as long as necessary for Officer Singleton. He trained his eyes on the pathway leading from the street, hoping to spot the officer making his way to the agreed-upon meeting place.
