New Number Twos
SUDS MERRICK PACED back and forth at the front of the bar and denied entry to anyone outside of his g**g. The proprietor fumed as he estimated his lost revenue on this, the busiest night of the week. Suds glanced at the barkeep and tossed him a wad of bills as he said, “The place is mine tonight. Take this for your troubles.”
By eight, most of the Hook g**g was several drinks into the evening. Suds went to the back of the bar with two of his top lieutenants, Muddy MacAuley, or Muddy Mac for short, and Liam O’Brien.
