Chapter 49 See You at Five JOHN SINGLETON WOKE up Saturday morning with his face flush against the kitchen table. He strained to raise his head, but a pounding in his temples forced him to return to a resting position. John glared across the table at the empty bottle of Jameson, and recalled his classification of the bottle the previous night as one of his very few friends. A friend with a kick, he thought as his head began its upward journey for the second time, and the pounding became more tolerable. John relocated to his bed.
