CHAPTER FOUR

Adela pov

I turn around to see the pack doctor standing at the opposite end of the hallway.

My eyes widen and fear grips me.

“ Do you know the kind of delicate situation you are in? You are in heat, Adela. If you go out now, all the unmated males in this pack will come running to you. Can you handle it?” She snaps and makes to move towards me.

I take a step back high on alert.

“ Don't come near me.” I warn her and she halts in her steps.

“ Let me help you, Adela.” She whispers but my head screams run away.

“ Help me?” I scoff. “ Says the person who is responsible for my current situation.” I snap.

“ If you didn't inject me with whatever it is you did, would I be here? Being treated like a breeding machine?” I accuse her. A look of guilt flashes through her dark orbs.

“ I was forced to do it. If I didn't, he would have harmed my children and killed me for sure. You think I want to betray the family that put me where I am?” She asks and for a moment, I don't know what to make of her confession. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaiser indeed threatened her. The past three days are proof enough that he is an animal with no humanity left in him.

" Why should I trust you?" I ask, my gaze narrowed at her.

" You don't have another option Adela. It's either you trust me and let me assist you or wait for your brother to know you tried escaping. One thing is for sure, with your current situation, you are not making it far." The lady declares. My stomach twists as I consider the options available. She is right. I might have left the room successfully but leaving this pack unscathed in my current situation is as hard as breaking a stone with my hands. The last thing I want is getting mated by countless males.

I lower my guard and the lady approaches me. She hands me something that looks like a tablet.

" Take this. It will help slow down the heat and get away with your heat scent. But you need to make it fast. There are unmated males all around here and they can pick up the scent anytime if the drug wears off." She informs me and I nod.

" I already dismissed the guards in this area. That should make it easy to slip away." She adds.

I swallow the pill without a second thought. I'll take any chance to escape this hellhole. It doesn't take long for the drug to take effect. The burning sensation and that desire to have sec slowly dissipates.

" This is the farthest I can help you Adela. Leave from here, go as far as you can." She informs me.

" But my father... "

" The Alpha is dead, Adela. He is no more. Kaiser is the new Alpha and will be crowned anytime. Your safety should be your priority at this point. Go, and don't look back. Only stop when you are safe." She informs me.

" Goodluck." She whispers.

" What about you? If he finds out that you helped me, he will definitely... " I start but she cuts me off with a shake of her head.

" Don't worry about me. He needs me so I can save my skin in the meantime. Besides, I owe this much to your family for everything I have." She states.

" I will try and keep him distracted."

I don't bother to say thank you. With a final glance, I run down the corridor and take a left turn.

As I run, my mind is in overdrive, trying to process the fact that my father is dead. I can't believe I am running away from my home like a headless chicken. From an alpha princess, I am about to become a rogue, a homeless omega.

My tears blur my vision and I take the path that leads to visitors quarters. That part of the pack house is always less guarded making it a perfect getaway spot. Five minutes. That's all I have for the medicine to wear off. In five minutes, I should be far away from this pack house. The sun is almost setting and slowly,darkness starts blanketing the land.

I heighten my senses and keep my eyes peeled ahead to watch out for the patrol guards. At this point, I can't tell who is still loyal to my late father. I can't take any chances and have me dragged back to Kaiser.

As the Alpha's daughter, my father already had me study the pack defence layouts so I am aware of where I can come across patrol guards. That information has been helping me navigate through.

I am about to break the last defence spot when I feel it, that super burning feeling plowing my private parts. My n*****s turn into pebbles and my c**t throbs with need.

" s**t! I curse when I realize my time is over and my heat is back. But why does it feel like it's tenfolds stronger than before?

It takes everything in me to not let out a piercing scream.

I stumble and fall. The sound of my fall alerts the guards nearby.

“Who is there?” They shout and I hear their footsteps slowly approaching me. My heat chooses that time to double and let out a moan involuntarily.

I slap my palm against my mouth but it's too late.

I panic, my mind racing for possible ways to save myself.

Without thinking, I crawl to the nearest room and push the door. I stumble inside, my hands clutching my stomach which feels like it's being tugged and pulled.

My body collides with something hard and warm. The contact sparks another wave of heat. I slowly lift my eyes and come into contact with dark brown eyes that seem to sparkle into life. His scent is different and that is when I realize he is not a member of this pack.I cling onto him like my life depends on it. Maybe it does.

“ Help me, please.” My mind is foggy as I beg.

I slowly open my eyes when the sound of a loud knock stirs me awake.

I try to open my eyes and groan when pain shoots straight to my head, messing up my sight. Blinking my eyes, I slowly adjust to the throbbing pain.

I am about to step down and answer the door when a realization hits me—this is not my room. My heart picks its pace as memories of the last three days, the attempted escape and how I ran into a stranger and begged for his help.

My cheeks colours when I register what transpired last night.

“ Are you done reminiscing?” A deep masculine voice sounds from behind me. Slowly, I turn around and acknowledge the stranger in my bed. No, I am the stranger in his bed.

“ Last night…” I start but trail off, unable to complete my question.

“ I helped you.” He declares plainly. I nod and say my thanks then prepare to leave the room.

“ There's nothing more you want to say to me? Do you think you can leave here on your own? Your brother is searching everywhere for you.” He announces and I stiffen.

“ Although your heat is gone, you won't escape here without any help.” He adds. I face him and raise my brows at him.

“ You want to help me?” I ask sarcastically. Kaiser is now the Alpha of this pack, no sane person will want to mess with him for a stranger like me. Well, except one person in the whole wolfen community.

“ Yes. But I want something else in exchange.” The man openly declares. I am taken aback, then my interest piqued.

“What do you want?” I ask.

“ Be my breeder. Bear my pups and I'll set you free. I'll also help you avenge your brother and father's death.”

“ I knotted you laat night. You are most probably already with my pups.” He adds and my eyes widen with horror
