chapter 3

Alpha King James POV

Having a pack Beta die spread to all the packs rather quickly. I reassured them that there was no danger to anymore pack members. "Sir" Alex my beta called to me. I snapped out of my day dream and looked at him. "We have new from Zane.Its not.much but I feel like you should look at it. " he said and I grab the paper.

'King Alpha, we have found the Betas scent and followed it. He was in a cave on the south side of the pack. He was injured and drugged so we couldn't question him. Time will tell what happens' Zane.

I reread it a few times before look at Alex. "I wish to travel to Crystal Islands" I say and Alex's eyes get big. "But sir this proves that something is wrong and that their might be a killer." Alex says and I stare at him. "Get me an audience with Alpha Lestor. I have a few things to discuss. " I say and Alex nods. I could arrive by wolf form. Most have never seen my wolf, the alphas know him but most pack members dont.

A few days passed and the cover of night came. There was a half moon so the forest was dark. I had shifted and Stella decided to come. Her pure white wolf stood next to my brown one. We walked up to Alpha Lestors house and were greeted by my Beta and a few guards. Zane walked over to after we had shifted. "Come on inside King and Queen" The luna said. We walked in and their eldest kids greeted us. Their eldest daughter looked to be about Mizuki's age and it made me sigh. "Alana dear can you and Willow bring out some drinks please" the luna asked and the girl nodded. "Yes momma" she said politely before racing off. Soon two girls came back. I recognize Willow as the betas adopted daughter. My wolf seemed on edge and it made me watch her. "Here you are King Alpha, Queen Luna" Willow said softly before bowing slightly. "Question Willow, are you of Alpha decent?" I asked and Willow looked at me and shrugged. "I dont know King Alpha, I know nothing of my past. I wanted a blood test but my father wouldn't allow it" she says and I glance at Alpha Lester. "Thank you girls, off you go" the luna said. 'Zane investigate her origin. Get the blood done, I want to know about her' I mind link him. He nods before walking off.

Willows POV

"Why do y ok u think the king alpha asked about your blood line?" Alana asked and I shook my head. "I don't know, maybe to investigate my mom." I say as we saw Zane walk up. I swallowed slightly feeling butterflies again. "Willow can I talk to you for a moment please?" He asked and I nodded. Alana smiled at me and gave me a nudge. "Yes future Alpha?" I ask and he chuckles. "Honestly call me Zane, I want to say your my future mate anyways" he says and my heart speeds up. "Alpha King James wanted you to get the blood test done by his order. He feels its important to know your bloodlines for the sake of the investigation. " Zane said as I nod. I was in shock that he thought we were gonna be mates too. I couldn't believe it one bit.

Zanes POV

The king alpha trials were beginning tomorrow. I was still investigating the possible murder of Beta Clare but I put my brother in charge so I could attend the trials. I was under strict orders that when Willows blood work came in only I was allowed to see the results. It would register if anyone in the fellow packs was related or if she was of European decent as Beta stan claimed.

Everyone from all the packs came to watch the trails. There were four rounds each day. Each day a winner was declared. Who ever had the most wins by the end of the week would be declared the King Alphas successor.

Willows POV

Zo call my into her office. "I got your blood back on if you have a wolf. And I'm in shock Willow" Zo said and I looked at her. My heart sank, i had always wanted a wolf and now i was pretty sure i wasnt going to have one. "You have a wolf but there are high levels of wolfsbane in your blood stream. There have been study done that show that if you are given wolfsbane daily for a year it will suppress your wolf so you dont even hear or feel them. But I dont know how or why you of all people would have wolfsbane in your system" Zo said and I stared at her. "I want to start detoxing you right away. I want to you to bring in your vitamins so that we can test them. Dad makes them or has them made special so I doubt that's it but better to be safe then sorry" she said pulling out my paper work and handing it to me. "You have alpha markers too. They can tell this baised on how much wolf's blood is mixed with yours. Its complicated and I dont know much about it. But I want you to start taking this" Zo says as she hands me a bottle. "Its an anti wolfsbane med. It will help you. We use it for young pups who sometimes ingest it or other who use it as well" she said. I take the bottle, it reads '4 pills daily for two day then 3 pills for two day then 2 pills for 2 days then 1 pill for a week'. "Zo do you think dad might have something to do with it? Or could others in school have been dozed too. Have you and Henry been tested to make sure it wasnt something we had at home?" I ask and Zo places her hand on my shoulder. "Willow relax, Henry and I should be fine. I already sent out bloodwork out. We were due for your yearly writing ups anyways. Dont worry. " she said "now let's get going to the Alpha trials. I heard Zane is one of the contestants " she said causing me to blush.

We walk over to the trails which were held on our training grounds for the first day then the second was on blood creek the third was Emerald forest then the last two days were in Silver creek with the final day being the top to contestants battling for the king alpha position.

I watch as they start out with strength tests. Pulling weights and benching weights. Zane took top in the pulling of weights but took third in the bench press. Next was with wolves. Zanes wolf was a grey wolf with black specks and jet back ears and paws. He took second in the first two and then first in the last one. So far Zane was in second overall. Jared was first Zane was second Ezekiel was tied for second and Daniel was third. A fifth guy dropped out after the first weight test. As the first day wrapped up I was starting to feel a little funny. After the last round ended Zane was still in second but Ezekiel had dropped to third. Zane walked up to Arizona and talked to her. I could tell he was mad once he found out about my wolfsbane levels. Suddenly everything went black.

Zanes POV

Arizona walked up to me after the competition ended for the day. "Her results for the wolf test came in. She has a wolf but something else popped up that is very concerning. " she says and I nod. "Wolfsbane was in her system. That would explain why she hasnt heard from her wolf" she says and my wolf goes crazy. "Seriously how high were her levels?" I ask trying to not allow my wolf to take over. " Almost off the charts, I have never seen them so high. I have her on an anti wolfsbane pill. Its gonna take a few weeks to taper her off it. " Arizona says as I glance over at Willow. As I do I see her fall to the ground. Both Arizona and I rush over to her. She was breathing but bearly. "Bring her this way" Arizona said as I pick up my mate. I feel the electric zap of touching for the first time. My wolf howls loving how close she was to us. I race after Arizona holding Willow. We rush into the clinic and Arizon hooks up oxygen and an iV to her. "What's going on" I half demand and I must have used my Alpha voice because Arizona gave a small whimper. "Alpha Zane, I'm not sure but she might be having a reaction to the pills. Sometime people are allergic to the anti wolfsbane. If that's the case it's going to take longer for her to heal from the wolfsbane. " Arizona explained. "Damn it" I curse under my breath. "Could we lose her?" I ask and Arizona nods. "There is always that risk. Your welcome to stay with her if you want. I'll go get an oxygen monitor so we have keep an eye on her o2 levels" She says and I nod. I take Willows hand. "Come on sweet girl you have to pull through. Your ancestry results should be on by the end of the week. I know you want to know and I want to get to know you" I say softly to her. She seems to hear me but she doesn't open her eyes.
