LEILA'S POV I stumbled out his apartment. Chase's words seemed to echo in my head until I thought I would go crazy. I could barely see an inch in front of me as my eyes were blinded with tears. I wanted to yell at him, to hurt him with words like he had hurt me, but nothing but sobs came out of my mouth. It served me right to hope for even one moment that I could find anything remotely resembling love. I had offered my body to a stranger and he hadn't even been willing to take it. He was right in a way. I was pathetic. The stairway was still dark, even though I could see the shadowy outlines of the stair and landing now. I ran down the stairs.
