LEILA'S POV As I walked away, I resisted the urge to take one look back at Leila. I felt, or fancied I felt, her eyes on me. I kept putting one foot in front of the other, widening the distance between us. As I did so, I felt something intangible but strong pulling me back to her like a magnet of sorts. Tania linked her arm through mine and smiled at me. All my senses were attuned to Leila and even though they were other cars on the street, I clearly heard the one she was in zoom off. I blinked and focused on Tania when she shook me impatiently. "Yes?" I queried. "I was asking you something, but it seems your mind is far away." I grunted and made a non-committal sound. This was the one time I could really do without company, the one time I really wanted to be alone with my thoughts.
