I made an effort to bring myself back to the present when I heard Tania raise her voice a little.
"Huh? Sorry, what did you say?" I asked her.
"I said I hope you finish up early tonight, so you can head home."
"Yeah. Me too," I replied.
"Maybe after I take you there, I could hang around a little while..."
"No. That is sweet of you, Tania, but there won't be a need for that. Besides, it will cut into your bedtime. However tonight turns out, I will make sure I call to let you know."
She nodded and negotiated the turn that would take us through the Alpha's estate. As she drove through the gates and towards his house, she shot a worried glance at me.
